by any chance is there a way to join mods together by combining the files. i would just try it but i dont wana screw my game up
Open the module Files of some mod, there should be some lines like:
Required mod 1= WH40k Required mod 2= WA(Or something like that)
Just add more files like:
Required mod 3= Tau_Mod(be sure to put the name of the module file of the mod)
And that's it, easy, it whont screw your game, and if something happens just delete the files.
required mod two is:
RequiredMod.1 = Wxp then RequiredMod.2 = W40k
i dont understand, cant i just copy the files intoeach other
black_hwk99i dont understand, cant i just copy the files intoeach other
Ye you can copy the files into the 40k folder but... BACK IT ALL UP, EVERY SINGLE BIT!
so i just make a new folder and put all the mods into that as well as backing everything up
Yeah, always back everything up. Make a copy and mess with it.
but i still don't understand i put everything into one folder but i didn't work. basic and and simply as you can how can i join mods together
Never copy Mod files to the W40K folder. Skins are okay, badges, banners and .teamcolors are okay, but Mod files (RGDs, UCS, SCAR, etc) should always stay in a folder other than an official folder (i.e. W40K or WXP) because otherwise it breaks online play. Mods have their own folders for a reason ;)
As for merging mods, it depends entirely on how they're written for win conditions and AI, but SHUMA and Pugman's answer is close to the botched solution. You'd want Mod 1 to be the one you want to include, Mod 2 to be WXP (if needed) and Mod 3 (or Mod 2 if they're not WXP mods) to be W40K. The game overrides the data in higher numbered "RequiredMods" with data from lower numbered, so always add mods at the top of the list.
Just doing it that way can mean that one race's AI and Win Conditions won't work, though, and if both Mods edit the same file then one of the changes will be lost (and there's no way around it)
