Hello, I am new to the DOW modding scene. I am also a new member of this forum so I would just like to say hello before I get down to work. Firstly, has anyone here played the Steel Legion Mod? If so, what versions have you played and has anyone got the two new patches for version 1.5? Also is it normal for the Steel Legion's infantry to be so weak in combat? Secondly, how do I go about editing the ingame sounds of units? I have a German copy of the game and one of the other mods I have only uses English voices for the units. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Hello? I know that double-posting is frowned upon, but please help me out. I have been trying to get on the Steel Legion forum but the Admins have not gotten back to me. The question is not only about that mod either so help me out.

I know what you mean. I have this problem contantly at some forums. Sometimes its just better to find the mod leader or someone of the mod team and ask them instead.

Firstly, has anyone here played the Steel Legion Mod? If so, what versions have you played and has anyone got the two new patches for version 1.5?

Yes I have played it and it was the best mod I've ever played. I play on the DoW version of the mod since the last WA patch broke Dawn of Steel for WA. I think if someone really skilled at coding tried, they could fix these problems.

Also is it normal for the Steel Legion's infantry to be so weak in combat?

Sadly, they are supposed to be weak like that.

Secondly, how do I go about editing the ingame sounds of units? I have a German copy of the game and one of the other mods I have only uses English voices for the units.

I have no idea on this. I'm not even sure you could change it to German. You do want them to be German right? Or is it something else? Well actually, if the mod you're talking about uses old voices that were already in the game then I think that would require copying the German Sound File into the mod's folder and editing the line of code that says where these are located. I dont know. I'm only going off of my current coding knowledge. I'll take a look here in a bit.

Yes I do want to use German sounds. How would you go about copying those files anyway? My DOW and my WXP folders are both very much closed to my prying in them. I am fairly sure that that is on purpose and I tried to modify my version of Dawn of Steel but no matter how much I try I can't touch those folders. I have the latest version of the mod tools (excluding Buggy's version) and am a bit stuck. How do I use the Steel Legion mod as a basis for my tweeks? Obviously I will not post it up as it is not my property but the Infantry really are too weak for my liking. I have in my possesion a number of notes on the modding process, but I just cannot seem to find anything to help me resolve this problem. Edit: Still no luck figuring it out on my own, although I did get hold of yet another set of instructions which have sort of pointed me in the right direction. I am afraid I still need your help. During my musings over the previous problem I did have a pretty cool idea though. What if you could put yourself at the head of two armies, or maybe all the armies in Skirmish mode. Imagine it, two (human controlled) sides against a hardcore AI (for the more experienced gamers) or for the newbies a chance to set up fights between the oponents and better their knowledge of unit counters and so on. When I was playing RON I used this method to learn to beat the improved AIs and when I used to play SPWAW and SPWW2, in their infancy, it was the only way to get a good game out of it. I am fairly sure that this could be achieved as the mod tools are, from what I have seen of them, quite exceptional in their detail. A few pointers where to look and so on would be greatly appreciated though. Anyone who has thought of doing this, or has ideas on this as well as a solution to my previous problem, your help would be really appreciated!
