Hey everyone. So I made my first balance mod for DC. People seem to like it so far so I think i'll make another but I need to learn how to do a few things first. I have looked around the forums and cant find what it is im looking for, so I'll just ask myself :) . Last resorts eh?

Anyway heres want I need to know (im hoping this is all Attribite Editor work):

- How do i change squad limits? e.g 1 Kasrkin squad to 2. - How do I change the number of weapon upgrades a squad can have? - How could I change the function of the Necron 'Viel of Darkness' ability to the teleport ability? (according to the codex, thats what the Viel of darkness actually does :uhm:) - How do I make units attachable?

have a look at other threads that are asking for help alot give links to places that explain these things or have explanations in them, if one of your things isn't exlapined post again with that one and I'll help. :)

Actually a lot of this isnt covered by other threads. I'll try to help out where I can as far as my current knowledge goes. Oh and its all Attribute Editor stuff so dont worry.

- How do i change squad limits? e.g 1 Kasrkin squad to 2.

Well I never really learned about the extensions needed but here's what you can do. Just find the correct file, copy it, go to the infantry command spawner and type in the same thing as the Kasrkin squad before it. Save. I know it isnt professional, but hey, it works.

- How do I change the number of weapon upgrades a squad can have?

This one is pretty easy as long as you know where to go. Goto: attrib/sbps/races/[RACE HERE]/[RACE HERE]_squad_[INFANTRY] Open that, and go to squad_reinforce_ext and select max_upgrades. In the box change the number to whatever you want. Save. I'm assuming you opened up an infantry file, like a guardsman.

Sorry... cant help you there... I'll tell you if I figure it out though.

- How do I make units attachable?

Another easy one. Again: attrib/sbps/races/[RACE HERE]/[RACE HERE]_squad_[INFANTRY] Open that up and go to attrib/sbpextensions and where it says GameData, right click and select "Add New Child". When asked for a name, type in: squad_can_attach_ext. Save. There you have it. Now hopefully you've learned something useful. I know I did. If this isnt working and you're using the regular Attribute Editor, find Corsix's and get them and redo this.

erm Solracc what are you on about? to change the kasrkin squad limit you go into requirements and then chane the sqaud cap from 1 to 2 or change the sqaud cap bit to no requrement for nothing...

Yeah but the other way doesnt always work. The no cap is pretty obvious, but he said change it to 2 which is why I never mentioned that. I'll try the other way and see if that works. I know it didnt last time I tried it. Plus, wouldnt selecting it from the requirements folder edit the squad caps for all squads that use that cap?

Thanks for the help guys. So far I cant get any of these changes in place and now its getting frustrating trial and error. Its the kasrkin thing that really bothers me and i have spent about three hours experimenting and nothings working. I have gone into th requirements and changed it from 1 to 2, saved it and tried but no progress there :-S

I knew it. You could just copy the Kasrkin's .rgd's in the ebps and spbs folders, rename, and put in the new name in the spawner. It might be easier if you got Corsix's mod tools.

No go to sbps/races/[race]/[unit] and then go to the requirement_ext then in there theres a requirement thing for squad cap which if you change the value determines how many squads you can build of that type.

thnks guys but i got this wierd problem now. Any changes I make in the AE dont have an effect on the mod in game. The cahnges remain in the AE after it has been reset and such. But the changes have no effect in-game. Even simeple things I already know how to do such as increasing health, weapon damage etc.

right okay do you save binary? or do you just click save? because when your done editing click save to save it to the mod tools in LUA so you can carry on then click save binary to convert the LUA's to RGD which are saved in the mod folder and make it work in game.
