Alrighty then... AE does not like me. Plain and simple.
It starts fine, go to load my mod project after following the not-so-hard mod-making instructions. It stops responding.
It opened it once. An exact one time. After that... nothing.
So, after trying to figure out what is wrong, i uninstall it and re-install it.
same thing happens.
So i think 'Hey, it's got to be the way i did the mod thing' so I go to open one of the ones that's already there (The one that they say 'DON'T TOUCH OR DoW WILL HAVE A SPAZZ ATTACK), just to see if it opens.
And, not supprisingly, it doesn't.
And the Debugger window doesn't show anything. It just shows 'Started AE' in a more complex line.
Warnings file says this:
13:56:34.20 ATTRIBUTEEDITOR started at 2006-06-17 13:56 13:56:34.20 OS NT 5.1, 640MB Physical Memory 13:56:34.20 RUN-OPTIONS 13:56:34.20 WORKING-DIR C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn Of War\ModTools 13:56:34.20 USER Owner 13:56:34.20 13:56:34.28 attributeeditor.c/64:!AttributeEditor -- Starting...
But, i remember it saying something else once, so i saw 'Warnings1' and opened that.
And it says this:
13:10:38.28 ATTRIBUTEEDITOR started at 2006-06-16 13:10 13:10:38.28 OS NT 5.1, 640MB Physical Memory 13:10:38.28 RUN-OPTIONS 13:10:38.28 WORKING-DIR C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn Of War\ModTools 13:10:38.28 USER Owner 13:10:38.28 13:10:38.29 attributeeditor.c/64:!AttributeEditor -- Starting... 13:15:28.20 2302 attribute files loaded, 0 failures 13:15:29.59 luaconfigsave.c/648:!Failed to load lua file 'TOOL:designmode.lua'
Any idea on how to fix it? I'm assuming it has to do with 'designmode.lua' or something like that... but beyond that...
I really donth know but just wait, i have waited almost an hour for the damm thing to open.
it takes my pc (with 1 gig ram) ten minutes to open, its just down to luck
It varies greatly based on the PC, since it loads in about two minutes on my machine. An hour is a little excessive, unless you're on a bottom-end machine. The loading time is all down to the fact that it has to load each and every LUA from the base mod (which is both DoW and WA if you're making a WA mod) and your mod and then construct them in to the correct hierarch before it can show anything.
As for designmode.lua, no, that is perfectly normal behaviour in the log files.
Just give it a chance (I've seen modders at Relic Forums wait 15-20 minutes) and see if waiting longer helps.
I might be sorry to hear that.
I'll let it sit. I have somewhere around half a gig of ram, IIRC, so i'll leave it be.
I havn't messed with the AE for quite some time, but I do know that it doesn't take an hour for it to open. Usually two minutes, like IBBoard. Not exactly sure what the problem is.
Well, it worked. took about 15-20 minutes, but it works.
good for you
