I have answered this question on the FAQ, which is a sticky on the top of this page. Here is a direct copy and paste from it:

Q15) I’ve just download the fantastic new …… mod! But I can’t install it! What do I do? A15) If the mod comes with an .exe installer, just click it and it will auto-install in the correct locations. If it doesn’t have an .exe, follow the instructions included with in the read-me.

Q16) Right, I’ve installed it, in the correct location, but it doesn’t show up in the Game manager! What’s wrong? A16) One of two things may have gone wrong here. Either: # the mod you have downloaded is of an earlier version of DoW/WA v1.41, and so isn’t compatible. Search for a more recent version of the mod. If there is none, then you will have to sit an wait for one to be released. Alternatively, reinstall DoW, and patch up to the same level as the mod.

OR

# your game is not at v1.41. Patch it using the Multiplayer button, and then autopatch up to 1.41. WA patches up to v1.4 automatically.

Hope that helps.

Which files have you downloaded then? What type? Post a copy of the readme, they really should all contain installation instructions.

Thats not what I mean. I mean what type of downloads, eg skins, badges, mods, etc. As for Zip and Rar, get Winrar, which I also have referred to in the FAQ. Its nice to know you all took the time to read it. *sigh*
