Hi, I've recently bought Soulstorm, and have tried playing online (never bothered with the others). After a few games, I found that I always seem to get kicked with the oh-so-hated message: Sync-Erro Detected. I'm sure you've had threads like this before, but I can't find any answers on how to stop it. I've no mods, I've tried reinstalling the game and turning off the firewall, all to no avail. It's really getting stupid when I get kicked from half my games, and I'm sure it annoys everyone else too. So, I was wondering if you guys have any ideas on how to stop it? Thanks in advance.

Uh, first off what internet connection type do you have?

And secondly, SS has been known to cause more sync errors than DC - should be better after the patch.

But if you do get so many of them, it seems to be something your end.

I have a Netgear 54 Mbps ADSL Modem router, I hope that's technical enough (I'm not so great with computers). It's pretty quick, and I've never had trouble with it before. Not so sure about getting more RAM, so when is this patch meant to be coming out?

Well, how much RAM do you have on your PC?

1 GB, it says. Seems too nice a number to be true, if you ask me.

Ram does not influence sync errors. I've got 512 and never had problems.

The patch should be coming soon I hope. It's supposedly done, but there's a problem with it being applied to steam versions of the game.

Also, any chance that you're behind a router? also I'd check your providers policy on p2p systems, since dow, like a majority of modern rts games doesn't utilise a direct server connection.

I've found a solution! Sort of... After a few tries, I noticed that in quick start games, or games with a high resource rate, I get sync errors, but in normal games I don't... (apart from 1 exception). I hope that'll be remedied by the patch, but it'll do until then. Thanks for all your help/suggestions, and sorry for wasting your time!

Jesus you must lag a bitch.... Sync-errors are caused by your PC not keeping up enough with the others, which is lag. Sync-errors occur when you are an extreme lagger Seriously, i used to get sync errors and then i got lag. I e-mailed THQ on both (seperate) occasions and received the exact same advice Ideally you should have at lease 2GB of RAM

I don't lag at all (apart from the first 1-2 seconds after starting), nor do I make anyone else lag... Trust me, most lagging is from people with mid range systems that put their details up to max. While they don't lag visually to themselves, their PC actually are a tad behind everyone else. The game then compensates by lagging out everyone else.

So if people are complaining about lags, and you're the only who is not experiencing them, there's a high likelyhood that you are the lagger. It's due to the p2p nature of multiplayer games.

That's why, it's recommended to everyone to run the game on minimal details in multiplayer.

Sync errors are rarely caused by laggers. They are either caused with problems in the P2P network, or by collisions with your data and the data of someone else.

Serious lags make people drop out and not sync out.
