Is anyone else experiencing this? The regular game runs fine, but when I try to run Winter Assault, the computer thinks for about half a second and then nothing ever comes of it. Help! :crash:

Um...the game is already installed. I'm not that dumb. However, neither the shortcut it created on my desktop, the actual file within the DoW directory, or clicking "Play the Game" from the CD autorun screen will open the game. DoW has always run fine, and all my DirectX and video card drivers are up to date. I've tried uninstalling everything and starting from scratch, but still nothing.

I think you need to patch to 1.4 in order to install WA in the first place. Try reinstalling it entirely.

I have had this same problem. It seems to not want to find the disk and it's pretty damn annoying. Uninstall doesn't seem to do it, but here's what I've been doing: I start the game from the Start menu (like I'm Amish or something, geez) but I do it WITHOUT the disk in the drive. This seems to make it look for the disk, then when it doesn't find it, it gives me a dialog asking for it. I insert the disk, wait a second, and we're off to the races. It's not a card issue, it just seems to be a glitch, hopefully one they'll resolve with a patch or something. In the meantime, this ridiculous method seems to be a workaround.

UPDATE: That solution I gave you? Well now THAT doesn't work either. This is pretty frustrating. I'm bookmarking this as well so I can get a couple ideas here.

Ho-kay, here's what I did. I did an uninstall and tried to run again. Nothing. However, this time I took a look at the properties of the shortcut it installed on my desktop. The DoW shortcut says Start in: "C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War\", but the Start in: section of the WA shortcut was blank. Just as a lark, I typed in "C:\Program Files\THQ\Winter Assault" and wouldn't you know it, it's started right up three times in a row. I did the same thing to the sc on my Start menu and lo and behold, it runs now too. I went from being elated that I fixed it to massively annoyed that I HAD TO FIX IT in about 0.62 seconds. What kind of nonesense is this?
