Chrissstrahl;4759561Blame those who do things like this, this is what happened and it seam to happen still.

If they get handled like this without having read this thread, they perhaps will take this personal and will never know that this, is not the way the community behaved before and of course should behave.

How ever 'eliteone' I wish you would stay to what you say but I know you kicked ppl from your servers for some words they said and If you did believe they recruit on your Servers or say something negative about the [SFI] clan. So forgive me If I have to laugh about that one...

How ever, I don't want you to teach me something about the Internet or gaming at all, but thanks for the offer...

Yes we police our servers as we see fit. Players have a choice to play on another server if they don't like our server rules. We don't air player issues on forums like this thread does. We deal with the situation and then move on.

I'm not here to teach you about the internet or gaming. I guess i assumed anyone who was a server admin didn't take everything people say while in the games so seriously (thick skin). It is after all a game right?

Anyhow good luck with your situation I hope you are able to move past it and not continue to dwell on it.

Swearing, cursing, acting like you own the server and violating the rules that are there with purpose such as ensuring the fair game tends to hurt those feelings. Thick skin? If you're really able to take an (in 99% of the cases) undeserved insult from someone you never even met and not feel offended, then I salute you. People like me and Chriss here are obviously more sensitive, so I see and understand his point of view. No offense to anyone, ofcourse.

I agree with that. What is done is done. There's really no point in losing any sleep over it, so to say. But, I'm keeping my soft skin, anyway. *goes to put on some moisturizing cream* :D

I've been hosting gameservers for over 8 years now and like I said in my previous posts:

1. If I let everything derogatory that has been said in there get to me I wouldn't be posting in this forum right now.

2. If you don't like the way someone acts in your server (breaks your server rules etc) then police your server and take steps so the particular situation doesn't occur again. The steps taken are purely up to the server admin. It is up to the server admin or their representatives to police the game server. I suspect this thread hasn't caused those who cause the incident mentioned any remorse etc.

By thick skin I mean don't let an idiots actions sway you from what you like to do. If you cave in then they win.

I understand the need to vent but to quit doing something you like to do cause of a punk...........................guess I don't get that one.

To be fair I'll tell you what the entire thread is about.

michael_appleby;4754641it's hardly a criminal offence to bad-mouth someone on a server, however much it displeases people...

which is deadly for a community...that's why i'd love to have a way to keep such guys off the servers. all the ppl who have been scared away could be regular players now which could help keeping the community alive.
Try to lure ppl on several websites/communitys to ef2 for two years, then they get scared away like this. And you learn that this are the same ppl doing this all the time over and over again. The best you can do is to believe they have no idea what the consequences of their actions will be.

For me this is a very solid reason to stop working for 'that' community. -------------------------------------- @Oberlerchner You have not been so rude as Marauder, but you joined him at his actions, which made you his supporter. Without your support he might would have stopped already his bad behave, for this reason you are as responsible as he is.

@Oberlerchner & Marauder

How can you be so mindless and scare away the future community? How can you be so mindless and scare away future server admins ? How can you be so mindless and scare away future Modders ? How can you be so mindless and scare away future league hosts ?

DO YOU GUYS NOW UNDERSTAND WHAT THE HELL YOU DID ?

In all seriousness, it isn't worth giving up the game over something like this. Imagine playing a game of football, and you receive a slightly bad tackle and some verbal abuse, so you quit forever.

Just remember these people have no life, and only verbally abuse/grief on the internet because to be frank, they would NOT get away with it in real life. They are cowards basically. By letting them wind you up you are letting them win.

The only thing EF2 would really be any good for is RP, so get some people to make maps for it. Your co-op mod for EF2 is to be frank, is perfect for this.

If we can get people to make some proper RP maps for EF2, then people might be willing to take it up.

DeadlyDarkness;4763091Imagine playing a game of football, and you receive a slightly bad tackle and some verbal abuse, so you quit forever.

This is not about me, I don't care if someone insults me, I've been the best player with all weapons (not desi) for two years, imagine how often you get insulted if ppl believe that you must cheat to be that good.

This is all about how some players thread other players, they thread newbies horrible wrong, they force the community rules strictly on them. Which is highly inconsiderate! If ppl are new to a egoshoter they first have to get used to the weapons and levels, they rarely read chat messages. Especially if they are written in German and they don't understand German, which happens lately also to often.

I've been trying to get some ppl work with me on a RPG Mod, the plan was to take stef2 singleplayer levels and alter them with scripts and including Modified RPG version of the Co-Op Mod, also a few custom-made RPG Maps which only work in singleplayer where on the list, but the so called crew turned out to be to lazy and started to play the game again instead of developing it to something better. I'm not intrested to do the entire work my self, I even don't play RPG.

How ever, the CO-Op Mod is not open source. ---------- And as long as this two individuals which made me start this thread have not shown any sign of regret, and change their behave I'll will continue my strike! @IKS To be honest, between me and you, the past 5 years I've done more for the stef2 community as anyone else, and I still can finish the Mod, but I don't have to show my work to anyone in the community. Since nobody around here can seriously evaluate the work behind this project. Call me a arrogant aged dude, I don't care, I do not have to proof anything nor do I need the publicity or the appreciation of this community. I've accomplished all I wanted to reach, this is the perfect time to move ahead to start projects which return something, and if it is just money, It's still better then sitting here and work for a self-destructing community.

That is true Chriss. No one disputes that. I certainly won't. It is your mod and it is your perogative whether to release it or not. If you wish to still release future versions EFFiles will host it and support your modding efforts, if you choose not to release it we will still support your decision to do so.

To be honest I've seen so many mods being cancelled down through the years for different games, all with different reasons some even similar to your reasons.

There is no wrong or right reason to cancel a mod, you cancel a mod on your own terms because you feel that way. Also same goes for if you keep a mod private, there are no right or wrong reasons. I am not condemning you and I never will, I just have down through the years failed to see why people choose some reasons for cancelling mods when the mod was a success and the community wanted to see more from it. Thats not right or wrong, I just never saw the logic it in. Though like I said that is their mod and they can do what they wish with their mod. What I am trying to say Chriss is that I have seen threads like this so many times before and my attitude towards it is still the same.

All I am saying is do not punish all of the community over two individuals.

To me and yeah any of you can go on about me being an outsider as many of you do but sometimes you need a fresh non-aligned view on these things. It certainly does not hurt to have that view. I do not see the sense in cancelling mods over issues that have nothing to do with the mod, I didn't understand it when I was active in the Homeworld, Armada, SFC or the most volatile of all Legacy communities, and I sure as hell do not see the sense in it in the Elite Force Community.

You know, and I can give you names, there was alot of shit in a certain community before (I know its not EF but hear me out). A large and I mean large mod team were trying to block any new teams coming up for fear of competition, they even abused them. I saw the emails and the accusations of mod stealing. It was attrocious. Shameful. The new mod team were two kids, a 16 and 15 year old. They didn't give a shit. They presevered, put their heads down and still worked on and now have one of the best mods for any Star Trek game out there, why? Because they simply realised that in every community you will get bastards, and the only way to truly win over them is to simply ignore them.

Thats what I am saying to you! It doesn't matter what someone thinks about you, or says about you. This is the Internet, truth is, none of us even know each other personally so anything said is not personal because on the internet people don't see faces behind the usernames or aliases, they just see the names.

Its easy to treat someone like crap on the internet because you can't see their physical reaction to the treatment you give them. I'll say this honestly, some of you do not like me and to be honest I don't really care if you do or not because its the internet. I know who I am and what I am all about. No one on the internet is going to change that. So I simply do what I feel I need to do to keep a community going. I think you should do the same.

Is this ever going to stop? Seriously guys, I have been around here since back in 2000 and I've never seen such a hype about a server happening before.

You know Chriss, I really do not mean to offend you, I neither intend to get back at you for trying to turn a friend against me as I considered that a bad day of yours and I haven't done anything to you, ever.

However, don't you find this going way too far? I have actually bothered to read through all the log extracts from page 1, and while this was certainly not the best event in EF2 history, it is certainly not worth getting worked up about it like this. Elite Force 2 is a game, a game which I like for its single player but don't like because of the multiplayer. The reason for that is nowhere people like you mentioned them, I simply do not like the way the weapons are, for example.

There is something you apparently fail to realize. While there still is a minority in the EF community that does play Elite Force 2, and nobody doubts your personal efforts have an essential part in this, most people nowadays don't like it any more because of the way multiplayer is handled and because they're tired of going through the SP campaign over and over again.

Your efforts to keep EF2 alive are appreciated and welcomed by almost everyone here. I am wondering though, if 2 people misbehaved and you want to continue developing a co-op mod in private only, who do you intend to play it with? The kind of posts you're writing here is actually more discouraging and destructive than 2 noobs having their way for a while.

Like I said, I am not intending to offend you, however this thread really looks like sort of a one-man show, trying to tell everyone "I'm the big man of EF2 and if you don't do things my way, screw you". It's something many people had to learn in the past, and will learn in the future. You may be a well respected modder, or you may be the manager of a great community site, but your steps are never too large for new feet to step into them with time, there is noone who has a "big man" role, and if you play that out for too long people won't care any more if you leave.

This is just being my 2 cents though, personally I think rather than making such a hype all around yourself - and that's what it is regardless of the people you're putting onto the pranger here with this - you should either say "alright I will stay" or stick to your opening post and leave silently. Either way will do the community much better than what you are doing at this time.

I wish you the best of luck whatever you may chose.

That was honestly one of the best posts I have read regarding the state of play in this community, in a very long time. I will admit that there are communities a lot worse off than us in terms of troublesome individuals; but the problem we have, is that our community takes things very much to heart.

We have our share of individuals that exist purely to cause trouble behind peoples backs - and they are more effective in our midst because the people in our community get genuinely upset by it.

I can think of a few examples where people have left over incidents like this one and there are at least two recent examples where people have almost left. We're an extremely opinionated group of individuals whom actually need an 'outsider' who can do things without being pre-judged.

FF|Pille;4765796Is this ever going to stop? Seriously guys, I have been around here since back in 2000 and I've never seen such a hype about a server happening before.
That's because you let things happen in the first place, why should you interfere, the stvef community is big enough to don't care for some individuals having a bad behave. But stef2 which needs every single player, there it matters how ppl behave.
You know Chriss, I really do not mean to offend you, I neither intend to get back at you for trying to turn a friend against me as I considered that a bad day of yours and I haven't done anything to you, ever.

Someone asked for my expertise on your personality, and I have never seen you been very nice or wise in the forums nor did I hear much positive things about you, so I told this person my opinion on you. How ever, if you take it personal you should consider this: All I know about you is taken from the internet or from someone over the Internet or from forums, comments and so on, what I was reflecting was your behave in the Internet as I remember it, if you consider this bad enough to take it as attack, which you do if you say things like 'trying to turn a friend against me' , then you should review your behave over the last , lets say 4 years. I think you should know that if I read your name, there is no emotion at all, since I never had problems with you my self.

Ah, btw, about the one man show, I'm at last telling ppl what really pisses me of, I draw lines for those who can't behave, I do this since a long time now and if you like it or not this is one reason why ppl come to me if they have problems and need someone to talk to. Everyone does have his own opinion and I can accept this. ========================================================

How ever, I think you don't understand what this, how did you call it pranger (pillory), Thread is about, so I'll list it for you.

 1. If this behave does become the standard in ef2 who would like to join the Multigaming Community ?
 2. Two players which are now for a long time a part of the community, behave on the server like 'top dogs', they should know better.
 3. This is not the first time, it happens from time to time.
 4. I've been putting so much into the community, I can't stand there and watch some guys chasing away potential new players.
 5. My Modification is for the Multiplayer Community, since it is a Multiplayer Co-Op Mod, so how ever you may see it, this two guys destroy the community for which I created this Mod for in my opinion. This Mod was planed to be published on many community websites and perhaps some gaming magazines once it's complete, that should have brought many new potential players to the game, and if they stick to ef2 or go to stvef or leave the community is their own decision. But they shall not get chased away from the community by two individuals which can barely behave them self. It's my name on this Mod, it is my name on the Invitations for the game, so they will remember my name if they think about that stupid star trek game where ppl do behave pretty unlike they should. So, and this is what I take personal in this case.

Thank you for reading, I hope you will now understand it. If you don't I'm sorry I shall try to make a clearer statement, but since English is not my native language, I find it very difficult to articulate my self in this language.
