Finally got this game working on Windows 7, working on a project only after 4 hours, i cannot seem to get past the start of this Enterprise Hull mission (the one where you dont have gravity), no matter what i cannot glide down after a jump and of course time is limited. I dont remember having nearly this much trouble years ago when i played it, the real trouble was the part after it and theres this guy on youtube he seems to glide down fast almost right away after a jump, cant help but feel that this is a problem with running a really old game on the latest hardware or that im doing something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated ;)
You mean this video?
Judging by the comments some people posted there, you're not the only one with this problem. Guy who made the video hasn't been active on YouTube since the day he uploaded it (which also happens to be the date he made a YouTube account, apparently just to upload a bunch of videos and then disappeared for good), so he never explained how he got down so quickly.
Have you tried looking down and pressing the walk forward key or the crouch key to force Munro to get down? I know this trick works in some games in similar situations.
Yeah thats the video. I'd really like to know how he goes down so fast. I've tried everything and no matter what, my guy just floats there, i think it took 2 or 3 tries when i last played it years ago, i dont get it. I'd like to do my own video project on EF2 at some point (since no one seems to have done a HD one) but i think ill pass on that if i cant even get this down.
I don't know what's wrong. Keep restarting the level and try each time. Maybe it's indeed some bug that doesn't manifest itself every time. :clueless: If that fails, you can always use cheats to get down.
I want to try two more things.
1. Do you know if theres a console command to go directly to a mission instead of loading a save? I know you can do this for maps in multiplayer.
2. Again, you can do this in multiplayer but can you adjust the gravity in single player?
To answer both of your questions with a single answer: I don't know. :clueless:
Try contacting Chrissstrahl. He knows the game inside-out.
I think i will. I just lost my save file so i'm screwed anyway.
If you do get in contact with him and he knows how to solve the problem at hand, would you mind sharing the solution with the rest of... well, with me (no one else except me posts here anymore =p), in case someone else comes here asking for help with the same problem, please? :)
I havent actually contacted him yet. I'm going to try running it with EF2 unpatched. Its a long shot but it worked for some people.
Although i have run into yet another problem, i reinstalled the game and now i can't change the field of view like i did before unless i use a command which resets it everytime i restart the game which is extremely annoying, same problem as this guy: http://widescreengamingforum.com/node/5726 so it might take a while before i have this Enterprise Hull mission sorted.
Oh, great. One problem after another. I don't know what's wrong with the FOV and how to fix it, so good luck with it.
I'm thinking of (re)playing the game as well, so I'll see if I'll encounter the same problem on the Enterprise Hull mission and maybe figure out how to solve it. Now if I could just arse myself to actually start playing the game... =p
