Im wondering what the point of the Hazard Team is? Emphasis on that hazard. In almost every mission, Munro will say something to the effect of "Stay Here." For example, On the Dallas Mission, Why would Munro go through a jeffries tube(which ended up in me lost quite a few times), blast through a lounge door, and open an unlocked door to find Jurot and Chell waiting 2 meters away? He's practically telling them "Stay Here, I don't think you know how to open a door" After that, Chell stays on the bridge(why?), whilst Jurot and Munro go to the transporter room. And while Chell is doing nothing, he a member of the hazard team, requests backup. He's probably no different from barcley(if he were there). And he did bring a weapon. That drull ruins map, where Chell says, "Wait Munro. Parts of the path ahead are very unstable. Use the Structral Integrety Viewmode on your tricorder." So Munro goes across the hazardous path, and finds a much safer path for the hazard team. There are many more examples. Worf would probably be better. Security would be about the same. Perhaps it should be Star Trek: Elite Guy and Useless(almost) Associates or Star Trek: Standard Security Team Stay here, I don't think you know how to climb a ladder. A possible reason why would be they didn't think it would be possible. Any of you advanced scripters/mappers wanna try?
Maybe because Munro considers himself the leader and rather doesn't want to risk more lives then required? Some of the things are intended because the makers of EF2 wanted you to do it and not some NPC....
Its only a game... besides, I always thought that the Hazard team were quite a good idea.
See the game is pretty old, for it's time it was amazing superior! These days games are different!
The Hazard Team gives you the feeling to be not alone, to be a part of something, it's more like a Team game. If you relay start thinking about it all you may realize that this is just a game.
If there are animations for climbing a ladder for the npc's they can do it, but it will look very stupid. Anyway, it's a ego shooter, if they do everything for you what are you doing them? Walking around and finding miss align Textures ?
Anyway the script language and the game contents are superior powerfully i don't think you really can't say what's possible and what not by having so less experience!
well the game is not all that old, but I guess it is team-like enough. But they're not really doing all that much as it is. And I still emphasize the hazard part. And I was just theorizing there, I never made and definate statements PS, I am referring to EFII, in case you didn't know
When I first played EF2 I got pretty annoyed whenever Munro would say 'stay here'. At the time it just looked like the developers were too lazy to put the waypoints and scripting in that is required of having teammates follow you.
That and they were not able to climb up ladders and such.
Star Trek: Wraith made a little joke about it actually, with a teammate saying that 'the rest of us are too stupid' to perform the most hazardous tasks.
The Klingon guy in EF2 also makes a joke about this (is his name Korban or something?). After the shuttle crashes on that planet, he says somethign like "why does the leader always go off alone...etc"
