To be honest.. I too am wondering why the (EF2) GBS mod wasn't hosted/posted on EFFiles...
Although, I know too well that there are reasons sometimes so I'll wait for a response first :)
I have send in the GBS and i got that response:
After taking some time to consider this, I require to see written proof from the creator of the modification that you have permission to submit this file. This is due not only to the nature of the file, but also because the direct creator has the ability to submit the file personally. We are unable to host this file without receiveing word from said creator.

So far so good, but why did they put on-line then the source i have send in few weeks before ? A Gate Two Birds and the Beautiful Sky Source Files, Elite Force 2 Downloads, Elite Force 2 .map Files
Makes relay not much seance, btw they know I was a part of the development team since beta3 of this mod. Lars the project head has still not respond to my mail I've send to him, so it can take up to one more year until the mod comes on-line, maybe it will never because lars maybe believes the mod is on-line already, he's pretty busy with work latly.
Hmm... I don't think that's a very good response to your email, Chris. When I first joined EFFiles they were hardly any direct submissions emailed to us. Instead, I had to go searching for files and then personally email each and every author for permission to upload their file. THe same had to be done for JK2Files when we first started. In fact, I remember very clearly emailing Argyle as soon as any Colony 7 files were released to see if EFF could host them. So I don't think there should be a reason to just sit and wait for Lars, there is nothing wrong with being the first one to send an email.
I think you know Lars, it takes ages for him to answer any request and since he so very busy i honestly believe he will never respond, that's why i have send it in. I've been talking to a another developer of that mod before, and he said that okay, i don't see any reason why Lars should be against releasing the mod now finally since all bugs are fixed.
And I honestly think it's not logical, because they HAVE ALL READY RELEASED THE
MOD SOURCES THERE, so WHY they are now pay so much attention of WHO is sending the Mod in ? And as I said before they know I was helping at this Mod and was a part of the Official Developing team.
Have they considered that the source Files a totally useless to users who don't have a Microsoft Operating system, I think no!
Regarding the hosting of GBS, I very much would like to have the file on the site. However I cannot host it unless it's creator has given permission for this. I have been unable to contact Lars so there was nothing I could do in that respect.
Alternatively if the majority of the mod team tell me it is ok to host it then I will, I have to consider the people that were involved in creating the file, not just one person. Again if you can get them to contact me and tell me they agree to the work being hosted on our site then I will do so.
Chris, I am rather disappointed that you clearly have a problem with my response yet you didn't reply to it.
EXiTI had to go searching for files and then personally email each and every author for permission to upload their file.
Except Chris isn't the author, Lars is.
About the GBS, it's a open source Mod, so if i go and name it Hazard Modding version of the GBS Mod and would send it to effiles, you would be pretty out of arguments to say no! As you ahve accepted the source files which where based on teh darkmatter-clan version... There are only 3 ppl left as far as i know of gbs, that's Lars, Avenger and me, so how can the majority of about 10 inactive ppl agree ?
Chrissstrahl;4015676 There are only 3 ppl left as far as i know of gbs, that's Lars, Avenger and me, so how can the majority of about 10 inactive ppl agree ?
Now you see that I didn't actually know.
Chrissstrahl;4015676There are only 3 ppl left as far as i know of gbs, that's Lars, Avenger and me, so how can the majority of about 10 inactive ppl agree ?
I also helped out on GBS (map2/map8/misc stuff..), so incase it means anything I also add my vote in for having GBS put up :)
Except Chris isn't the author, Lars is.
Oh, I know :) What I meant was that whoever it was who had sent that reply to Chris's submission email should probably have either been a little more forthcoming with information (i.e. they are still awaiting a reply from Lars and cannot do anything till he says something) or they should have said they will be in contact with Lars regarding the file. Either way, the email should maybe show some action will be, or has been, taken by EFF.
The misunderstanding clearly lies in the lack of communication. If Chris had received something a little more concrete than a quote of uploading policy then I'm sure he wouldn't be lead to believe that EFF is just sitting there being ineffective.
Din't know you had done something on map eight, ya it's a huge map. I was resposible form map6 to map9 and optimisatzion on all maps at the end :)
EXiT;4016643 The misunderstanding clearly lies in the lack of communication.
I wouldn't have said there was a lack of communication, I could have simply said; We cannot host the file, bye. But then that would be an appaling responce.
Anyway with the information that I now have, from this thread, I will post the file in the next few days. ;)
