I was thinking, would it be viable to make'Saber-gauntlets' for JK2? That is to say, wrist mounted lightsabers. Its an idea i have thought about for a while now, due to my affinity for the Batman character Azrael who uses burning blades mounted in guauntlets.

Basically, instead of the blades coming out of where the topof the lightsabers hilt would be, they come out around the elbow and along the arm. Could this work? Is it even possible. I dont know if a characters arm possition is resticted to set motions (meaning this couldnt work without new animations) or are they calculated based on where the weapon is aimed/swung?

I dont know how well i explained that, but any comments would be appreciated.

Do not double post please. [EDIT]On second thought, read your intire message. Thread can stay here. Just try not to double post again please. Cool idea too, but it would be hard to saber duel that way.[/EDIT]

Yea, sorry about that, resent the post when I used the 'back' button.

What i was thinking was that it would need to be similar to how 'twosabers' is done, as the arms are moved appart so the sabers dont overlap. If i undertand correctly, hitting the attack button only makes you perform a mottion, and it is contact with the blade which deals damage. So what I would need to do is find a) how to make attatch the blades to the character model as i described in the original post and b) how to make the animations and attacks/parrys work so swings go the right way and parrys line up with the opponents saber. If the existing animations where used with the sabers attached to the wrist, the blade would be 0ff 90degrees from where it would normally be.

And im starting to think im in over my head.

This would mostlly have to be a saber hilt with the saber moved back. Be pretty hard and it might look weird on some models. You can't attach sabers to models.

Does'nt 'twosabers' attatch a saber to the other hand? I thought that if you could do that you could attatch it elsewhere?

Prehaps iu should download odd-model sabers like the spear saber and sythesaber and see how the work in combat. Prehaps(and this might be what you suggested) it could take the form of a saberhilt that was like a sleeve other the forearm. If a saber can be made in the shape of a sythe or spear then i should be able to do that. I guess i should do some research.

I'm not really sure, I guess it does. Never thought of it. But I'm not the person to ask.

You could find out, the JediMod source code is here... Interesting idea, sort of like Spaceballs in a way...
