I'm new to modeling...VERY new. I haven't made one yet, heh. I have done skinning though, but it's hard to find the right model for the job sometimes. I downloaded MilkShape 3D but it's really confusing. I like skinning cause with Photoshop you can have multiple images open...but with MilkShape it seems that only one can be open at a time. Well, I would like to know if there was a way to combine models...in other words, take the head of one model and put it on the body of another. I used to make skins for The Sims and they were easy because all the models used the same format for skinning. For JK2, it seems that every single model is different. Sometimes it's hard to tell what part is what when lookin at the skins...like where the border between a torso and arm is, or something like that (sorry if my description isn't too clear). Anyway, so can combining models be done? And if so, how? Right now, for this skin i made, I used the jan model, but the head's not right. I want a female with long hair...is there any like that out there with a similar format to jan? I can't figure out how to realistically change the jan head to long hair using MilkShape. Thanks for the help! :)
well there are long hair models such as mara Jade leela Jedi Celtic Jan
Celtic Jan and Leela Jedi are here *somewhere* dont ask me for Mara jade lol
Milkshape is confusing, use gmax, it's completely free, and much easier to understand.
Gmax cant export XSI, so i wouldnt recommend it.
milkshape doesn't seem to be able to export xsi either...unless i'm missing it somewhere. It can import it, but i don't see it listed under export. deapthroat, thanks for the names of the models...i'll go check em out. But actually, i would still like to know if combining models is possible because i would like to make a stormtrooper SP mod. For RTCW, someone released a patch that made all the female agents nude. So i thought that i would make the stormtroopers nude women, but still have them wearing the helmet, cause i think it would just be cool. (And i would also make one in bra & panties, or something, to post on jk2files, since i don't think they allow nudity, right?) So what i need to do is take a female body and attach the stormtrooper head. I basically did this in milkshape. I loaded up the stormtrooper model and deleted every part except for the head. Then I imported the succubus model (which i had downloaded) and it matched up pretty well. I deleted the head of the succubus, leaving head_hood (which is the hair), so that it sticks out the back of the helmet, and then edited it so there were no gaps, and no horns. But that's as far as i've gotten...i can't seem to find a good tutorial for milkshape that's specifically for jk2 (and all the threads on it here are 10+ pages long and i can't sift thru it all to find the answers i need), so i'm not sure how to attach the skeleton...though i figured that since i just took parts of models, it should all be set already, except i may have to do something to attach the helmet to the body...not sure.
Heh, only 3dsMax can export XSI. Milkshape3d can only import it =|.
In order to do what you want, you would need 3dsmax...and I highly doubt anyone would be willing to put stormtrooper heads on female bodies. Furthermore, I would like to suggest you persue individual if not family counsiling....or at least get a real girlfriend( one you could talk to without the internet). Hope this helps, peace!
Off topic : that was almost disrespectful.... eh, no wait... it was disrespectful...

dude, wtf is your prob? It's not like i'm gettin off on this shit, loser. It's a game...it's for fun. I like skinning various things and think it would be funny to have women with stormtrooper helmets running around, and i bet there's many other people that would find that cool as well. So if you don't have anything productive to say in a thread, then don't post. Anyways, I'll download GMax and see if that helps any. I'm on dialup though, so it'll take a little while. But if GMax can't export xsi either, then i guess i'll run into the same prob :(
well, from what I've read in MANY threads, Gmax doesn'T export, only 3dmax.... You have to pay for it, but if you are good enough, you could still try crack it, but I don't think it's doable
