I Have just created my first map, but soon i will follow it up with a second version of it. But in the newer version i am trying to add my own textures, but it doesn't seem to work, and all i get in radiant is the black and blue checkered textures and not the one i want....

All i've used to create these textures is paint (cause they're only texts, like banners) but they are in .jpg files, which should be ok.

Do i need paintshop in order to put textures onto the map? Or does anyone know how to put on textures into the map....?:D

Its easy once you get the hang of it! let me explain, what you'll need to do is create a textures file inside your maps .pk3 then another file inside that with any name lets say mushmash for example, you'll then have to put the textures you want to use in there

Example:

textures/mushmash/picture1.jpg

then save your .pk3 and restart radiant.

If you look in you texture list in Radiant you will now see the example list MushMash click on it and your textures will load up, so you can add them to your map.

Just remember one more thing though!!! you have to create textures that are a SPECIFIC size otherwise they wont load in JK2 (evan if they do in Radiant) these are the sizes you can have:

8x8 16x16 32x32 64x64 128x128 256x256 etc etc but they cant be any different, not evan by a singular pixel!!

Of course if you have a long banner but it is quite short you can have 64x256 for example.

Hope this helps cos i know how frustrating it can be to not get these things right

Try to find program Wally . It is very good texture editor. To select background music: Unsellest all entities (ecs), and then press the N Key to bring up the entity window. Scroll down the list and select worldspawn at the very end. From worldspawn, you can set music, change the gravity, and a variety of BSP options. To set music: add the key music, and in the value, type the path of music file. I'm not sure about this. Try to find tutorial about worldspawn.
