I want to add some fire or torches to my map, but the only tut I have found is for SP and it doesn't seem to work the same. How can I use fire in a MP map?

Fire fire fire easy, ok for the torch you need a torch model I have on if you need cred goes to Drico anyway for the flame you are gonna wanna go and add an fx_runner
then in the prop menu for the runner put as your key fxFile then the value is effect/env/small_fire.efx
Check assests0 for more effects
k thanx, I could use a torch model ,and to set the sound you use target_speaker right? "key" noise "value" sound/effects/fire_1p.wav Is that correct?
If you can send the model to jcota_wkd_clown@yahoo.com
oh and b4 i was just chekin to see exactly what u wanted ok? so dont get all grouchy on me:D

Im sry umm what did I do again anyway np yea that is right for the sound and ill send the torch.
Thanx again, how do you get pics for signitures like that?
I just spent a week working on a map that is entirely torch lit and having experimented with a few settings, I found what I think is the perfect way of doing a torch. First, your fx_runner: Key fxFile value env/fire This creates a small flame. Since my torches originate from semicircle holders on the wall, my fx runner is half imbedded in the wall. One important thing to remember is that if the flame is on wall that joins to another room, the fire will be seen on the other side so u need to make sure your wall is thick enough. Also becareful of the height too since the effect gives off smoke. Next, the target_speaker Key noise value sound/effects/torch_burning_lp.wav Here too is something you should remember...multiple target_speakers increase the volume. At first I had a target_speaker with every torch. The result sounded like my building was on fire! In the end, I placed on on every fourth torch. You'll have to experiment with yours. Finally the lighting. I found that using a short spotlight aim slightly away from the wall with a radius or 128, style 6 and color orange gave a perfect effect. I suggest lighting the whole area too with orange lights or else the floor fails to get lit. I hope this help you out and good luck with your map
