What is this? Did I interrupt a group of kindergartners? Holy crap, let's flame the Admin cuz he won't load your mod that's only a compilation of others.
Hey why don't you just host the file on your site? That way you don't need to act like little snotty-nosed brats whining cuz u got caught with ur hand in the cookie jar.
shut the **** up this aint your fight u little asdhole newbie:smack:  :furious: :n0e: :fistpunch:
asty what the hell's up with you? one minute you're all over trin.. 'trin let me help you with this, let me help you with that..' and now you just completely diss our mod. why all the crap you startin with us? about 90% of YOUR public in jk2files bring you models, maps, skins, mods that were made by other people and only changed a tad bit. and many of them i see get high ratings by others, i dont know how. you never complain about all of them. then we bring you a mod that's about 20% other people's and you have the nerve to mess with us?
Marker0077 EDIT: READ THE FORUM RULES (/me swears he can hear an echo in here).
I only edited out the derogatory comments towards other forum members.
Marker0077 EDIT: READ THE FORUM RULES MAN. I completely removed this post. This post was a big time flame starter & nothing more. I agree that some of Asty's words could have been used better, but Asty deserves some slack since JK2Files.com would not be where it is at without him. In any event, just because someone posts something that gets you upset that doesn't give you the right to go posting rude posts & more importantly, that is not going to be tolerated here, certainly not on my watch. I appologize for my colleagues harsh words, but if you value your account here, do not ever post anything like this again please. You have been warned.
TY for reigning it in, Marker.
I'm sorry you feel that way, Tracker. A guy's entitled to an opinion. And yes, I did offer Trinity all kinds of things to help her. Thanks for acknowledging that. I got a "go to hell" in return.
I gotta close this thread...too many other people are getting involved. Just continue to flame me on email please: email@example.com.
Or on some other site's forum.
Ok, time for me to put my 2 cents in. Asty gave me permission to re-open the thread. I thought we should because I don't want to stop you guys from speaking but you need to respect our rules. If you can't do that, then don't post here please.
First off, to the Gen X boys - watch what you post please. I can see how you might think that Asty started this thing but we are not little kids here & I don't care who started it, it's totally beside the point. A flame post is a flame post, end of subject. I didn't edit any of Asty's posts because moderators do not edit other moderators posts, we talk amongst each other & the moderator that made the post edits their own post; Anything else is just unprofessional. If someone posts something you do not agree to, report it to a moderator, that's what the feature is there for. Someone did report all of this & that's how I came into the picture.
Not only that, it is not necessarry to leave belittling or derogatory posts to get your point across, in some peoples opinions, you only make a fool out of yourself by talking like that & even more so without actually saying something (not saying you are fools but some people do see things that way).
Secondly, I am not going to keep warning anyone. I left the warning messages up as a record, if you are going to be a troublemaker then fine, we'll ban you. You start enough trouble, we *may* just ban everything Gen X related alltogether. We are trying to show you some respect, if you can't do the same then we'll do everything in our power to eliminate any further problems.
I apologize to Asty for editing the posts, I know he originally wanted to keep those posts up but you guys need to understand. If you make a post that breaks the rules, it's going to get edited so don't even bother with posting it. If you persist, we'll ban you. This our place guys, we don't come over to your forums & start trouble, we'd appreciate the same respect.
Thirdly, you guys need to understand peoples points of view; Not so much about Gen X, but Jason/BOFH/Spectrum/Phoenix. Jason has a bad rap around town man & when some people here anything that has anything to do with him, they... well, lets just say they aren't peachy keen. I talk with just about all the coders in the JK2 community. According to Mike/Chosen One (JA coder), the new emotes in OmniMod/Gen X came from him & he was never given any credit (& he was obviously not happy about that) - this is what people mean by stealing.
Even I had a fallout with Jason around 6 months ago, the Jedi Council rank (not the name of the rank, but the idea for it) came from me & I was never given any credit. Later on, there was a huge flamethread on the JK2Files.com forums (this was before I was a moderator & we posted the rules) which everyone joined in on because Jason was not only ignoring me, but he was removing my posts from the OmniMod forums as well (which is why I brought it here, little did I know that Jason was a moderator here at the time (lol)).
There are a few other things that I could go into but some of which is not my story to tell (meaning I think I would be out of line if I did tell it) & others I just don't want to say because I have started a clean slate with Jason & I do not want to be non supportive of his current projects & whatnot.
To prove I am starting a new clean slate with the guy, I am letting him use the Duelers Full hilts packs in Gen X (the hilt packs that start "~Duelers~", I did those). I made a deal with Jason that we were to be included in his credits & the filenames of the hilts packs were to remain the same. If he does not honor his word, then I won't help him again but I do not base my decision on whether or not i am going to help him on previous fallouts with however many whomevers. As long as he's cool to me, I'll be cool to him. I am also planning on helping him out in a couple of different ways as well but there are some things that I don't want to post about (*hint hint*).
Lastly, no offense but I am not too worried about Gen X competition-wise with Duelers Full. Unless he can start producing some really outstanding features like we are with Duelers, I do not see that many people playing Gen X over Duelers, or any other mod for that matter. ForceMod II or ProMod may give us a run for our money but we'll see what happens.
I have been spending the past few days re-doing the Duelers web page (because the current one is really sad), but I am going to try & have Duelers Full ready for next week so keep your eyes peeled. ;-)
I was also referring to copying features, not code...
Example: Azymn slaves for months and months to make some absolutely awesome features. His blood, sweat and tears are devoted to something truly innovative. He releases it.
Three days later, BLAM! GenX does the same, and more!! You've just reduced months of hard work into a mere curiosity. No creativity, no originality. Just pure unadulterated copy. So tell me, why should Azymn even try? Such a tactic chokes off creativity.
And so I'm gay for thinking so. :)
Well, I don't think there is anything wrong with copying a persons feature... well, there are some cases where that is not cool, but for the most part it should be fine. What is not fine is not including people in the credits. If anything, I see including other mods in Gen X (or Duelers Full for that matter) as another way of distributing the various mods but in all other forms of distribution, credits are given. Credit is a huge thing to some people & I personally find it rude if you had used some of my work & not even say "O by the way, this cool thing right here was made by so & so, thanks so & so" - ya know?
As for copying features, thats cool by me. There are a couple of features from JediPlus that were coded (without using any of the JediPlus code) into Duelers & vice versa with Gen X (like the jetpack draining shield energy).
Razorace started a thread on the JediKnightII.net forums for coders to get together & share code to resolve bug issues in the game & I got Mike (JA coder) & Lee (Duelers coder) to check that thread out & share the knowledge between one another (which is how JA got the new ban code that permits up to 1024 IPs to be banned instead of 18, that code was by Lee (Duelers coder). I want to improve all mods, not just one. I am not out to bogard any features unless it is a really huge one (like the new tournament mode in Duelers).
