Milkshape cannot make JKII player models, nor can Gmax. Although Gmax is a better product than milkshape, Gmax also is free to regester. I only have used minkshape because it is what I first ran into and it is also smaller to downlaod. I had my brother downlaod Gmax 1.2 for me at collage with all the help files and tutorials it was 50 megs. So you are far better off with Gamx unles it's to much to downlaod. Also be sure you get 1.2, 1.1 is a pain to register. If you want to get into player modeling you will need 3d studio max and about 1-$2000 would get it done. You can get the links to download milshape, gmax, tutorials and other stuff at the stick icky modeling and skinning resource thred. Here is the best skinning Tutorial I have seen. Mind most of these tutorials will be showing you how to make people, and you cain't make players so what's the pont? Practace experiance you will need it all before you make something from scratch. Hope that helped feel free to bug me.

But yes it can make map models.

are there any tutorials for making players in 3ds max ? i convinced my school principal to buy it for art class and i'm allowed it use for anything i want. If i was to make a character in 3ds max, would i have to re-animate the whole character or just assign it to a skeleton?

Mine has not run out yet so I do not know how I think it makes you when your trial is up. Also it is $20 to register it. That is why I say Gmax is better it's free. But is it to much for you to download?
