i have a lift and want it to start at the top and go down , not start at the bottom and go up. how do you do it...

also how do you add objectives and make new people spawn when somebody dies?

I don't fully remember right now, but place the lift at the bottom(bascially where you want it to end up), and then open the entity window, near the bottom put key: height value: -128 (change the "-128" to the distance you need)

The direction is basically found in the positive/negative value for height.

(how do you make lifts go back down when you step on it, cuz i make it come up and when i get on it it stops, but get off it and it goes down... without me on it. also how do you make a lift stop at the top without going back down again???

To make it go down with you on it just put delay and what ever value and for it to work only once use trigger once that might do it

If you want the lift to toggle so that it stays at the top, and also to make it start at the top, simply use a func_door and set the angle to down. func_doors don't just have to be used to doors you know.
