I just need a couple answers on the questions below...

1. How do I insert 3d models into the game (desks chairs etc) 2. How do i make doors 3. How do i add a sky 4. How do i map for mods, such as hydroball

I would perfer if you told me the answers to any of my questions in this thread, instead of links, but url's are appreciated also. Thanks for your time.

I'm assuming your using GTK: 1. rightclick and go into misc. click misc_model. a window should pop up. for chairs and other decoration objects like that go into map_objects. choose any .md3 in the subfolders 2. the simple way to make a door is to create a brush for the door, right click it and choose func-> func_door. select the brush you just made into a door and hit the button 'n'. this will bring up an entity window. from here you can choose what way the door will open (up, down, sideways, etc.) and many other traits. for a more indepth tutorial go here 3. making a sky is simply making a roof with a sky "texture" on it (its actually called a shader) just go into textures->skies in radiant and cover a roof with it and it will become your sky. a more drawn out but helpful tutorial is here :uhm: 4. i'm not sure about this one, but check the forums to see if there are any threads about it. (check in both the modding and mapping forums)

I hope this helped. if you have any problems, reply and maybe i can help.

note-these tutorials that i linked to are for JK2 mapping, but there isn't any difference that affects what you're asking here. The place i got these tutorials is here, so check it out if you have anymore questions.

Thanks for the info...I do have a couple more questions though. For the first part, about inserting .md3 files into the game. I did that misc>misc_model thing before i started this thread, but when i tried it out on my game, i could simply just walk through them. Second, about the sky thing. When I map on GTK, I would make a room, and apply a texture to it. Then when i wanted to apply a texture, i would select a wall (Ctrl+Shift+Left Mouse) and apply a texture. Sometimes, a wall can be big enough, where the textures repeat. Same goes with the sky. When i try to apply a sky, it repeats itself.

right...ok ill help 1. about the md3's, you put brushes around the object, not neceserily extreme detail in angles of the object and stuff, and you apply caulk (i think) to those brushes that cover the md3 2. when you apply the texture to a face of a wall you can press S for the surface inspector to appear and you can choose how many times the texture should be applied to the object, there is a button that says FIT, you press that and then done or ok or watever is in there, i havent opened GTK for quite a while

by the way about ur sig... 1. you cant have an image signature other than files (mostly smileys) provided by the forums, that is due to the fact that some people still have to rely on their parents for internet money and are stuck with dial-up and 56 k modems 2. you cant specify a path on your hard drive for a sig a. it kinda says ur name b. it has to be uploaded to a host in order to be able to display it, i suggest

www.angelfire.com www.freewebs.com www.tripod.com

if you have any further questions feel free to ask

-LoD-AA-lurker correctly answered the second question, but not the quite the first.

You DO have to create brushes in the model, but not just any brush. make a bunch of brushes that fill the area of the model and then cover all of the brushes with the texture system->clip. the brushes will then be invisible ingame but they will still be there so you can't walk through the model.

by the way--

by the way about ur sig...

is that directed towards me or Matrix Katarn?
