I see someone's made an Emperor Palpatine model. Wouldn't it be nice if someone would make a Senator Palpatine and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine model as well? How about an Anakin Skywalker as a boy? I know he wouldn't really be appropriate in the game, but I would like to replace those Ugnaughts with the boy. :) What about a Darth Maul that is capable of actually moving his mouth when talking (which brings me to my question.).

I'm not a modeller, but as someone using the models, I think I should comment on something. Why is it that there are so many models with highly detailed faces, yet the face has no expressions? The eyes don't blink, and (gasp!) the mouth don't move when they talk. This is somewhat disturbing when I replace a character in a cutscene with the new model. The characters would be lockjawed. Some examples are the Darth Maul, Count Dooku and Ki-Adi-Mundi models. I think the Yoda model is also lockjawed.

I think it's not so easy to make the models move their mouthes or something else.I'm not a modeller but I can imagine that it must be very difficult. btw,there is already a young Anakin in progress.;)

Thanks for the quick reply. Is it possible to just get the mouths from some other character and plop them into a new model? :)

I'll look forward to the anakin model.

OK so there a couple of reasons that the custom models are lock jawed. First it takes alot of time to animate a model, to get the mouth moving and such you got to do alot, and I mean alot of work.

Most of the models that you are using are imported in to the game using the assimilate program and are not animated by hand. They are set up in the default pose legs and arms spread out. which means the model doesn't have to be hand animated and takes alot less time and allows for an easy transition for the modeler.

So in conclusion the reason the mouths don't move is because the modeler didn't want to spend an extra week (80 hours) to get the mouth to move when they can just assimilate it into the game in a couple of minutes.

Thats basicly what you do, you take Kyles skeleton and add animation to it I think, but I could be wrong. However it's quite hard and the only model out there that talks right now is the Han Solo model.

and no it isn't possible to take the mouth from one model and add it to another, with out actually making a whole new model (well actually making a whole new model will probably be easier.

PS Yes i know I over simplified the answer above but for someone that isn't a modeler I did think it was necessary to go into to much detail. :smokin:

Wo! Three replies in almost the same time. Wow.

So, what about the Palpatine models? I think the person who made Emperor version might be interested. He made the Emperor's and sidious' mouth move, so, I think the senator and SC palpatine wouldn't disappoint if he were to make them.
