Need Some help please.

I have made a few skins mostly color stuff, and want to get into one that will need some shader work, alot of it. First off wondering if there is a fire shader that can be applied to a skin so that the fire actually looks animated like the torches etc. in the maps. Most all the skins i can find that say they are fire, or flame are still pictures fo fire on teh skin, I am looking for more the human Torch approach. Second i was wondering if anyone knew if the effect that is applied to a skin when being subjected to force lightning was a shader, or a efx (or what ever there called.) and if so can the efx be applied in a skin or not. And if so how. And if a shader what is the path to the shader I find a few reffering to lightning, electric etc.

thanks for any help you can suggest.

Most shaders for fire people use are just a fire image being scrolled across the skin (using tcmod) and flickering (using rgb waves). You could use the shader type animmap and have an actual animated flame. If you're making the human torch, try using the wookie model, keep using the same ge128 or whatever its set to, so the hairs are still a semi-transparent layer above the skin, then apply your animated fire shader to that. it'll give the fire the illusion of three dimensionality.

As for the lightning shader I assume its an efx file controlling it, but the visual play of lines across your body is a shader. Unfortunately for skinners its a shader being applied to a shell around your body, the same one used in the dueling shader, so you recreating it on your body wouldnt look the same. here's the shader for lightning: gfx/misc/electric { cull disable deformvertexes bulge 0 2 0 { map gfx/misc/lightning3 blendFunc GL_ONE GL_ONE rgbGen identity tcMod scroll 0.5 1 tcMod scale 3 4.5 } }

gfx/misc/fullbodyelectric2 { cull disable deformvertexes bulge 0 0.25 0 { map gfx/misc/lightning3 blendFunc GL_ONE GL_ONE rgbGen identity tcMod scroll 0.5 1 tcMod scale -2 -3.5 } } Like I said though,that shader is being applied to a shell around your body (I think) not any piece of your skin, so it won't look the same if you apply this to your skin as it would applying it to that shell. they're being Also try the jediknightii.net forums for editing, as it seems to be more active. I don't know anything about those efx files and how they work. so I've got no clue if you can make/edit your own, I've opened them with notepad, and edited them, but I didnt notice any change when I introduced a pk3 with the new efx files. so who knows. z?gir good luck
