hey all, i'm new to jk2 editing, and was wondering how to get a model from 3d studio max into jk2? i've modelled hilts, and need to convert them to .glm files (i think) to get them working correctly in the game. if someone would provide a step-by-step guide, i'd be eternally grateful, thnx.

Try Spacemonkey's modelling tutorial! Found here on Raven's JK2 Resource page: http://www2.ravensoft.com/jedioutcast/

Look for "JK2 Model Tutorial By Tim "spacemonkey" Appleby"

Under the "Tools/Editing/Mods/Servers (Unsupported)" section :)

that's a good tutorial, but it seems to deal primarily with character models, what about weapons? surely simply doing a hilt can't be this complicated, can it? thanks.

Ah a hilt... Hilts go in "models/weapons2/saber/" folder They need to be two formats in there:

saber_w.md3 saber_w.glm

And your skin for the saber: saber.tga

Just put those files in a pk3 file (make sure to preserve the directory structure!) and then you're good to go! :)

Making pk3's I would suggest this tutorial: http://mappers.uffiles.com/tutorials.php?action=view&ID=28 (adapt it for the weapons folder mentioned above)
