I would like to know how to put sounds from one player model into another.
P.S = These are NOT custom models, I want to do this to the Shadowtrooper (The laugh doesn't suit it)
Please Help !

Tell me what sounds you want to use then I will post instructions on how to do it.
It is pretty straight forward really.
Ok well........I was thinking the Kyle sounds on the Shadowtrooper first, but really I was gonna experiment, so if you could start me off with Kyle.

A simple sound change like that is straight forward. (Kinda) If you know how to reskin and how to make new skin files then you will not have a problem understanding how to adjust sounds. I'm gonna assume you don't know how to skin and go into great detail!! :D
First off: go to control panel and open the folder options, click the view tab and uncheck the "Hide extentions for known file types"
Second: create a new folder on your desktop:
How to make a Shadowtrooper sounds to Kyle.pk3.
Go to your base folder and you will see a pk3 called assets0.
Open this using winzip (use the classic interface though)
and then click the path colum to list alphabetacal order. (again, if you have tried reskining you will know what I'm talking about better)
Scroll down until you come across the path:
models/players/shadowtrooper
There will be quite a few paths of this name.
Then look in the name colum, your looking for a file called:
sounds.cfg
Highlight that, then click extract, point it to your new folder on your desktop and make sure the use folder names box is ticked then click ok.
now go to that folder and click through until you get to the sounds.cfg file. Open it with notepad or word pad and you will see a text document with this in it:
chars/shadow1/misc m
Change the line, but make sure you don't add any spaces or press enter anywhere between text. Change to this:
chars/kyle/misc m
Close the page and click yes to save changes.
Now close all windows and create a new winzip file (right click on desktop new/winzipfile)
open that with winzip classic again and click add. point it to the new folder on your desktop make sure include system and hidden folders is unticked and include subfolders IS ticked then click the "add with wild cards" button.
Close the winzip window and then right click and rename the zip file to something.pk3 and click yes to the change extention question. put it in your base folder and your done!!
To revert back just delete the file you created.
If you do the same thing to a skin pk3 you've downloaded, pref one with custom taunts and extract all files using folder names to a new folder and have a look it will give you better understanding how it all works for making custom taunts, I managed to do this myself just by looking into other files and have since made my own sounds/taunts for my own skins. look for the born_again and errm file on jk2files.com to see my skins with taunts and sounds.
I've tried this myself as I was typing this and it does work
:D Great! I'll go try it now, if you wanted desann sounds would it be the same but instead of kyle it would say desann?
Thanks alot and i've seen your skin already, nice!

To choose whatever sounds you want to do just look in that asset0.pk3
find the path:
models/players/playername
find the sounds.cfg file and check where it points to, they are not all pointing to the models name you see. For example, the Tie Fighter Pilot sounds looks like this:
chars/st2/misc m
The jedi is:
chars/jedi1/misc m
Chiss is
chars/bartender/misc m
But I think desann is as you say, there isn't a sounds.cfg for him.
Have a play about
God luck :D
Since you've done a skin.......could you do me a personal one or a better one for KOL (Knights of Light) It would need to be a light-side looking one, i'll send you a pic of some of the colors I might like, with a Kyle taunt which says "You want a worthy adversary, i'll give you a worthy adversary" Thanks

just in case you want to know, how to have custom sounds in your own skin:
1. create a folder on desktop, call it 'sound' (w/out 's)inside make another folder called your skin's name or a shortened version of your skin's name. inside make another folder called 'misc' (w/out 's)
2.make sounds, maybe take sounds from different existing characters, or make them yourself, make sure they're named correctly, pop them into 'misc'
3. in your models/players/skinhere have (edit the existing or make one) a sounds.cfg
put in it:
sound\same_name_as_above_folder*\misc m
*your skin's name or a shortened version of your skin's name.
i might have missed something, excuse me if i did...
edit:
the 'm' or 'f' below the sound/skin/misc tells it if the skin is male or female, so any sound NOT in the sound/skin/misc can be replaced by the respective sound in mp_generic_male or mp_generic_female respectively
My skining isn't that great to be honest, I mostly edit existing ones.
Making the taunt your after isn't really possible, unless you have heard kyle actually say those words in single player game then I could find and rename the file so it would work right on the taunts, even make multiple ones maybe.
If you know how to record wav's then make a few recordings of yourself maybe (You will need about 15 short sound files)
You need 4 different "pain" sounds 3 Sounds to hear for death One for a hard landing a choaking sound one for the falling to death and a few taunt ones too (in most mods you can use more than one taunt that come out at random)
Send me a skin you'd like edited zipped up along with sounds and I'll see what I can do maybe a few pics for logo ideas too or a URL that has logo there.
I've always wondered what the m was for under the sounds path, just never bothered to look it up!!!!!
Thanks for that :D
