Hi,

I'm working on modelling and skinning saber models for the JediMod and derivitive mods. However, i'm having a problem, that as I reset up these saber mods, some of them "lose" the actual saber...(and the sound gets real choppy in game). So while one hilt whne wielded the saber is active (hum and all), if I switch to some others, the saber glow vanishes. (even though the hum is still there). Why is this, and how do i fix it? thanks

I think the position of the glow is attached to the hilt (since theres the reverse saber hilt) so it may be because the hilt doesnt have a position for the glow, so it doesnt appear anywhere.

No, niether the glow or the blade are attached to the hilt, they are completly seperate, if they were attached, you would be able to get different saber designs with every hilt. There is a tag on the hilt model showing where the saber should eminate, but they are not attached.

I think it is a problem with your JediMOD, I suggest you download it again.

Thats what i meant, since theres no position for the glow to be, it doesn't appear anywhere.

I have noticed these tags on the hilt models, but i'm wondering in my hilt model creation how i'm supposed to link them up to work right. I have the saber model made, and the skin. (very generic), and I add the similar triangle (like the other sabers i've examined) naming it either *flash or tag_flash. In my qc file, i setup the $tag "tag_flash" line, and seemingly everything should work right. I do have to export from Milkshape into MD3 format, and then to GLM from MD3View. But i should think that would be a problem. However when i boot up JK2, the saber hilt causes the saber to go invisible. What am I doing wrong?

thanks JaedenRuiner

Alesh, if there was no tag then there wouldn't be a blade either.

JaedenRuiner, get the GLM importer for MShape. That should help.

I think that's exactly the problem: hilt, sound, and no blade at all.

Um...

By any chance is there a tutorial that describes how to make the tag for the blade?

you're supposed to make a right triangle with one of the legs twice the size of the other and naming it whatever the tag is.
