it should work if you did everything correct.
Post the path name to your game data folder.
IE: "C:\Program Files\etc.. etc.
Heres the path "C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast\GameData" and i disabled BSP monitering in preferences B/C it kept saying "The connection timed out, assuming the BSP process failed Make sure you are using a networked version of Q3Map? otherwise you need to disable BSP monitering in prefs." ---------------------------------------------------- + + + Ok + + + ---------------------------------------------------- it works fine now, but i just want to know what to put in the PK3 file. I have this in my dummy.PK3 i got from Rich Diesels site. folder #1 - botroutes folder #2 - levelshots folder #3 - maps folder #4 - models folder #5 scripts folder #6 shaders Folder #7 -sound folder #8 - textures. now what i want to know is what to put into those folders, to make a running MP map.
i hope this helps to help you help me...i think i lost myself there...lol.
Radient doesn't like spaces in the file path... That mapping turorial tells you this at a VERY early stage.
You need to copy your game data folder to somewhere else...
Uninstall the game.
Delete the lucas arts folder in the program menu (unless you have a diferent lucas game in there, indy for example)
Then reinstall using custom option. And select a short, spaceless path.
Example: Mine is installed to C:\JK2\ Use that path name would be an idea.
Patch to 1.04 THEN copy your back up gamedata folder back into the c:\JK2 folder (NOT other way round or you'll have all sorts of problems)
Everything should now be back in right place when you start radient again you may need to point it to correct folders as in the section where I linked to you in previous post.
Heres what you need to put in what....
botroutes : Any bot rout you have created.
levelshots : a 512X5212 pixel pic of your map with same name as your map (EXACTLY SAME NAME)
maps : Your map's BSP
models: Any .md3's you've used that are not already from assets0.pk3
scripts : your .arena file
shaders : Any shaders that are not from original game (use same path as the map you used them from and include the actual shader too) sound : Unless you've created custom sounds then you don't need to put anything here.
textures: Any texture path you've used that isn't from the game.
ok.. but i still think th@s a little bit too complicated...i need a really basic explination(for the lack of a better word) of the things th@ need to B in the .PK3 for the level to work. i still dont get it...i am sorry, plz B patient w/ me. i am a good mapper, just not fermiliar W/ the .PK3.
ok...lets set aside the .PK3 stuff 4 now... how do you make a .arena file? thnx aidy 4 your URL's but,i tryed the rich Desiel tutorial; the tutorial on JK2files.com, and numerous other 1's. they all say to 'rename the file yourmap.arena, or mymap.arena or yourmaphere.arena' but i found when i renamed it it still said 'beta_test_map.arena.txt'(th@s my map name) inside the .PK3.!help!:bows:
hahaha!!! i got it!!! never mind!! i figured it out!!!! I just took an existing .arena file and chose to 'alwayes open this file w/ notepad'! so i then opened notepad and then modifyed it! then renamed the fiel itself to 'beta_test_map'!!!! IT WORKS!!!! HAHAAHHAAH!!! I AM HAPPY!...except 1 thing... i can get into the level, play in it...but everything is bright white. and when the game starts the level up, in consol in yellow it says,'WARNING: light grid array mismatch' help would be appreciated :bows: :D
