I was wondering what the trick was to getting the sounds to match up for the walking of a model. For instance, i found several droid models online, and in my playing around to get a better feel of editing such things, i first learned how to set up skins, and then moved on to creating my own packages, to better understand the whole process. (Hopefully for when i write my own mod).

Anyway, in the animsounds.cfg there are several lines for the sounds

BOTH_WALK1 6 sound/player/footsteps/droidstep%d.wav 1 4 100 BOTH_WALK1 20 sound/player/footsteps/droidstep%d.wav 1 4 100

etc...

now, it says the first number is the frame, (okay understood idea, but not sure how to use it). then comes the sound file, and then the first num, last num, then probability.

I have tried using wav files, i've tried using mp3's, i've tried setting that 100 probability to 30, to 50, and to its default 0. nothing has worked and i constantly keep getting the standard boot sound instead of the droid mechanism sound i downloaded. How do I get this to work right?

Thanks

Messing with those sounds are bad, you ccan't change sounds for one skin without effecting all.

That doesn't make sense...

In every model directory there is a file called animsounds.cfg, containing these scripts.

in the assets0.pk3 file, here is the animsounds.cfg section for the protocol driods/ LOWERSOUNDS { BOTH_WALK1 1 sound/chars/protocol/walk0%d.wav 1 2 0 BOTH_WALK1 7 sound/chars/protocol/walk0%d.wav 1 2 0 BOTH_RUN1 1 sound/chars/protocol/walk0%d.wav 1 2 0 BOTH_WALK1 5 sound/chars/protocol/walk0%d.wav 1 2 0 BOTH_DEATH1 12 sound/effects/metal_bounce.wav 0 0 0 BOTH_DEATH2 12 sound/effects/metal_bounce.wav 0 0 0 BOTH_DEATH3 15 sound/effects/metal_bounce.wav 0 0 0 }

If the game can support this effect inside the game, how do i manipulate it to work for me as well. I know it wouldn't work per skin, but it should work per model.

Nope, I would have thought you could too, but this game up several times when the jabba the hutt model came out, and I have been told by several of my peers it can't be done without changing every footstep sound. If you find a way to do it cool, but I don't think there is.....:/
