I don't understand why Forces Of Corruption didn't have the Eclipse Super Star Destroyer playable without a mod.

Does anyone else have this rant, because i find it ridiculous it has it in the Instruction Manual as a playable unit in Galactic Conquest, when you have to play the highly overpowered Zann Consortium campaign to get to play it ONE repeat ONE time!!!

I think it's one of two reasons: a.) Maybe Petro thought the Eclipse was overpowered? They did put in Death Star II, which had a ship-targeting superlaser too, but the Eclipse can't be easily obliterated by IG-88 or the Rogues. Not to mention it has really tough armor. Anything big enough to really punch through that armor would be vulnerable to Eclipse's superlaser, and bombers only do minor damage to the SSD (and you can then use fighters/corvettes to pick off the bombers). 2. But yeah, Petro threw in the Eclipse's completed form as an easter egg model. I'm guessing that the reason they did that was because they expected someone to get into the coding and make the Eclipse buildable. In other words, they expected the game to be modded. I'm guessing Petro might have done what they did because they wanted to encourage modding of the game. And why wouldn't they? Filefront shows how extensively the game has been modded, how many ways, etc. And suddenly, when you have people modeling and coding in new units, abilities, and whatever else they want to throw in, it makes more people want to buy the game if only for the mods. If you ask me, that would be genius on Petroglyph's part.

yeah, it's another modding easter egg. there are mods out there with them in it as well, sort of as an add-on to a mod.

Here's the third possible reason. Petroglyph halfassed the game once again and were too lazy to put bones on the eclipse model. Besides, read the comment in the XML, it specifically mentions the unbalance there would be if the ship was put in GC. Now if you really want the eclipse, go DL LoW's 0.7 mod on filefront. It contains a halfass eclipse with no weapons other than its superlaser.

Consider Lucasart's subpar job on Battlefront II, I find that highly possible. Good point.

Well Sith of Steel, I think Petro guys had seen all the EaW mods before they started making FoC. SSD, TIE Interceptors and Defenders, Thrawn, DS II - all that we've seen in first EaW mods we see in FoC. Also why you think they added a third pirate faction - Consortium? Cause some people tried to make pirates playable and Petro just had to know it.

We're talking about Petroglyph, not Lucasarts.
