Does anybody actually use them? I'm wondering if there's any real good use for them. I mean, their intention is obvious, but how do you effectively use that strategically other than maybe see the enemy coming early in conjuncture with a bunch of snipers.

i sometimes use them when cleaning up a map, most of the time though i get stuff like mass drivers though.
I use them to afford my artillery an extra sight range, especiall if I'm plying as the Empire as their artillery has no spotter units like the Rebel artillery.
I always felt the sensor node didn't have much use either. I've gone in and increased the sight range of the sensor nodes for my own mods and it makes them worth more to build. I've tried some different numbers, but doubling the range seems to be the best fit. Anything bigger than that makes too much of the small maps revealed.
Revealing Cloaks, with the Luke glitch (cloak him while he's attacking a building and he'll continue attackign it while cloaked) and defiler bombs planted on Urai, you really have to worry about not seeing those nasty cloaked units getting too close to your base.
i have found that sensor nodes are best for adverse terrain condition like sandstorm, ... where the infantry can barely see their noses, and mopup its a big map and i don't have enough money for a real turret:). other than that, i do not use them.
I use sensor nodes every one in awhile. In the event that I do use them, I need them more than anything else.
sensor nodes are good for snow storms when the fog of war is larger. but for anything else i would say they where usless.
