May have been a thread on this already, but I only got my copy of the game today. Played the demo when it came out, didn't really take to it to be honest (was too different at the time). I've since played other RTS games, and figured I'd get myself a copy. Somewhat glad I did. Anyway, what buggs me (one of the things anyway) is how the Victory Class Star Destroyer is, quite literally a minature version of the Imperial Star Destroyer, with a side port-like thing on either side. How original is that? Would it have hurt so much to do a little more to the ship, maybe with the colors or the windows or something?

The victory star destroyer is SUPPOSED to look like that cannonically. I dont think its very original either but hell, just deal with it.

Like Vader said, it is supposed to look like that, I think the Star Destroyer might have been based off of it personally.

Victory destroyer was like early version of ISD, designed and used during Clone Wars. Side wings are to make it easier to move in the atmosphere. After the Empire was established, they stated they need much bigger ships so Kuat guys started with ISD production - it was much more powerful, however wings were removed cause it didn't need to get into atmosphere anymore (it could just perform bombardment from orbit)

Like i said the VSD was early concept art of the Star Destroyer but it was rejected. Later it made its big debut in books and stuff as the VSD so lucasarts decided to cannonize them. For they would replace most of the SD's in the Imperil Remnant fleet.

i'm pretty sure the venator was one of the first to be based off the ISD. i mean the same lady made the design for the venator as for the ISD. yes it was a lady who made the plans for the ships.

Vaders_legion;4568263The victory star destroyer is SUPPOSED to look like that cannonically. I dont think its very original either but hell, just deal with it.[/quote]Well, from various other sources I've seen, whilst the Victory shares a similar look to the typical Imperial, there are significant changes, mainly to the bridge section, along with the platforms at top of the hull. The Venator is the canon one seen in the newer films, right? In regards to you guys saying the Victory was a base design for the Imperial, that doesn't work right. Not only is the Victory suppose to look a little different, but it has a different role altogether. The Victory and Imperial in the game look exactly the same, aside from their size. It's as bad as Star Trek with their Klingon Birds of Prey.

Actually, the Victory Destroyer also has a little antenna sticking forward out of the front of it's command tower. But you're right the Victory-II Destroyer is very similar to the Star Destroyer, but it's supposed to be the 'early version' of it though. Anyway, the Victory-I Destroyer wasn't that way, however, it actually had missiles on it instead of the Ion cannons, however, it was slower in space and didn't handle space combat as well as the Victory-II could.

Yes, the victory was a base design for the imperial, things had to be omitted for the imperial I to work however. Look more closely at the model ingame, it has the wings, and the bridge extrusions as well as a third shield generator. The role is only slightly different, the victory was a versital atmospheric assault ship/heavy frigate where as the Imperial I was a capital ship designed strictily for space combat.
