I cannot believe such a cool game wouldn't be talked about in the coolest forum on earth! So start making posts lol.
Which is your favorite weapon from ET? Give a reason as well.
My favorite weapon is the portable MG42. I'm really good at using it. Just set me up with a long hallway and I'll riddle them Nazis (or GIs :)) with lead.

Hey, I didn't know you play ET! It was the only game I played about 2 months ago, but now the changes made with the latest patch have put me off it, and I haven't played it for ages. Anyway, my favourite is the MP40. Same as the thompson, but it sounds cooler. The rifles are both good as well. Went rifle 'nading earlier today (first time i'd played it for ages) and had loads of fun.
I havn't played ET in a month, so I don't know what happened with the patch. I'll probably play ET today or tomarrow. I don't know why I don't play the game more often. I think ET is better than most games you have to pay for.
Basically they all equal in the hands of a skilled player. But I like the sniper rifle. It gives a good feeling when the enemy is down and frustrated. It is enjoyable when you find a good place, and start taking them down one by one.
Unlike yourself I have never been good at positioning myself & so I am not so devastating with stationary weaponry. Though I have got pretty good at wasting newbs on any of the fixed MG42s (not so good on tank mounts :( ).
Give me guns... lots of guns Many people swear by the mp40 (German machine gun) over the Thompson (US Army issue mgun) - but I guess that they are too busy playing to bother visiting forums & this thread so I will speak for them now by reporting the comments I have got back whenever weapon preferences are mentioned in the countless maps I have played (far too many - first installed a year & a half ago & in terms of time - I wish I had never done so).
When I do find myself regretfully spending my life in a virtual skirmish then it is either as mp40 or Thomson armed Engi, Med, or Field (depending on what class is needed to complete objectives / help balance team). Unless I am trying to teach some upstart a lesson in which case it will be the class that best counters the class they are playing as :P
Those crazy Cov Ops! (They like to play 'dress up' all the time don't cha know?) ;) If I am 'on a mission' as cov then it will invariably be with sniper rifle. I have an indefensible preference for the German sniper, I will pick this up if I can when playing as an Allied Cov Op. It does have one clear advantage in that you can chose when to reload & so are less likely to be caught short of ammo or having to rely on switching to your pistol whilst diving frantically out of enemy fire. :/
VERY USEFUL points (IGNORE @ YOUR PERIL) Whatever you do in the game, it is a team game. Shooting the team does not help. Ever. I mean ever, ever, ever. If you suspect you will hit one of your team, do not pull your trigger, do *not* fire! No matter how stupid your team member, (well ok if he is jumping on your mines etc. then he is a traitor down him :/). The worst playing I witness is over zealous players 'helping' others out by trying to add to their fire in a firefight from behind(!) & shooting 'through' them (adding to enemies fire). That helps no one but enemy. Even if enemy does eventually outshoot your player it will have kept him busy till then, you can fire at the next highest threat or position your self better(i.e. behind him or out of his line of fire) to make sure you stop him.
The rate of fire of the FG42 is tremendous & the highest in the game afaik. You quickly run out of ammo if using this in firefights, at close range (i.e. not scoped). Going to the few servers running the [AE] clans sniper maps is a good idea to up your sniper effectiveness.
Don't be part of the Mine Morons Place mines around corners & you will trap even those who have battle sense. You cannot see round corners so being warned of the mine's existance is of no use. In fact always place mines round corners & similar & Covs will rarely spot them as they will invariably attempt to suvey area from afar & will not survey a corner which they are about to turn. I have got 20 plus kills from mines per map against advanced players who are used to sloppy use of mines.
Wipe out! Nothing better than clearing an area of densely packed enemy with a cunningly dropped satchel or grenade :-D - look out for this don't simply rely on your primary weapon at all times!
Most frustrating weapon to face Has to be the engineers rifle grenades. It is demoralising to survive the blanket fire of 3 enemy only to find one of these damned things 'bouncing' its way to your vicinity - often compeletely by chance.
When you are short of patience being in the trajectory of a hastily aimed panzer rocket (from enemy or friendly fire) is extinguishes the fairness & fun of having to track & aim a moving target for 2 to 3 shots required for frag with any other weapon.
Most satisfying weapons to use Due to their infrequency & diligence required for a frag are the pistols & the knife. Somewhat ameliorated difficulty when you have the combos. In the past I used to play so that I could get the combo pistols & then doggedly stick to that as a method of fragging. However the increasing average skill of players has meant that on the servers I play this is now suicide as you are to compromised for accuracy at long range agains the other weapons. The knife is still awesome though & it deals humiliation out for some reason esp. to players who consider themselves of a higher 'calibre' than the rest of us :) In pretty much the same vein deploying a rapid satchel charge in an action situtation is just as hilarious, cheeky & gratifying - unless it is you who haplessly runs over it in pursuit or panic! Grrr! X ( .
The other weapons Mines Having played engi more than any other class most often, I have some pretty cunning positions for these in maps. It is infuriating when there is another engi on the team with less creative/effective locations for these mines which ignore the strategy for the map or the fact that the other team has a diligent Cov Op (who spots mines regularly) or players with high XP & therefore battle sense.
Pushing On servers which have pushing enabled you can send a foe to his demise by a well aimed push & they least expecting it. Equally constructing them to their demise is also a diversion which is amusing when the monotony of using virtual lead kicks in.
