Today i played the map caen and at the door to the objective i planted 2 mines as usual to stop axis cov ops in disguise, but as usual my own team mates try to get in the door despite the mines. Oh would you beleive it, they died, but thats not the end of it, oh no, again they try to get in, it never ceases to amaze me. Anyway the thing i want to get feed back on is the correct use of mines, as in spacing, numbers and allowing for space for your own team mates to easily negotiate round them. Today on the same map, another engineer decided to place mines right accross the whole path which denied access for anyone who needed health or ammo. I think this is stupid, it also offered up no protection for the door, and in my opinion they mines were absolutly pointless. Is it only me or do any of you think that 2 mines together is the maxium you should use in any one space that will or should not affect any other mines? What i mean is, if you place 4 or 5 mines close together they are all going to blow in one, right ? sure it will blow up the unfortunate victim too, but so will 2 mines, no one survives 2 mines in the oner, right? So whats the point in using more than 1 the other thing i hate is blocking, mines should not restrict access for your team mates, right? They should also not be too close to the wall unless its the obvious path an enemy will take. So to conclude, i beleive that A: mines should be sufficiently placed so that they do not blow up when 1 is set off, B: should allow safe and easily negotiable passage for your fellow team mates, and C: should not use more than 2 in any one place, unless infront of a tank, or truck to disable it. I hope it isnt just me that thinks this is most effective use of mines.

sounds good to me...as for planting mines close to entrances, i always plant them a little off side, leaving some room for a teammate to get thru a door; altho, it doesn't really matter how much room you leave, you'll always have that dork on your team that 'accidently' sets them off!

I saw an engineer once put mines blocking the whole of the first tunnel on Oasis. We couldn't get down at all with out going over mines. And not one Axis tried to go through the tunnels.

exactly my thoughts. and there are places where someone always plants mines ... so what i do is place em 1 meter further ... they'll never expect them there ;) when i place mines there's always a way to go past them if you know where they are. of course that won't stop the idiot teammate from trying to jump over them and fail ....

heh yea, i hate that man, that is the worst , mine complainers should be shot on site. The thing abaout caen is, and i have seen it so many times, is when you place mines at the door to stop axis cov ops getting in, case they will try, and your team mate tries to jump over the mines and open the door and get in and live, omg, typing that just brought home just how stupid that really is. And the thing is, they wont stop there, they try again, and they get pissed off cause they got killed , again, so they complain. Man nothing suprises me these days, but that is just plain stupid.

I hate it when someone does that to me. Jesus that really annoys me. Sometimes I think they just can't see the mine flags......

/say Okay guys, lets try and collect as many flags as we can! btw when I play more experienced players I NEVER place mines in the well known places, 'cuz after all they'll know there're mines there and will be careful or won't pass at all. Better take them off guard with mines in wicked places. And sometimes the standart 5 mines around the tank/truck :}
