I just started to watch Band of Brothers again.....this movie (well mini series) is really the only move (save for schindlers list) that has hit me on such an emotional level, i have never seen a movie so well done, sure there are some errors, but thats a given with any movie, especially one dealing with many points of view.......
i think the reason it effects me so much, is the fact that there is no generation on this planet, that i respect more, than the WWII generation...

This is a great miniseries and is really well done. It doesn't seem to have any "Hollywood" feel about it. It's nice to follow a whole group of characters from boot camp all the way to the return home from war. I liked how the series put a human face on the enemy instead of them all just being evil nazis.
The only thing I didn't enjoy about it was the pricetag of the DVD set. It's easily the most expensive set I've ever bought. I'd buy it again if I had to, but ouch...
I try to watch it every year.
yeah, it's the best. I buy very few dvds, but I liked this so much that I was willing to pay for it to: - watch it uninterrupted by commercials - and more so, to show my appreciation for it (even though spielberg and hanks don't need the money). I think the handling of the whole subject was so superior that I wanted to show my support. Silly, I know, but that's how I felt.
BoB is excellent. I know it's not perfect and the history buffs could probably find some things to gripe about but I think it's the best ww2 drama I've seen. I wish the pacific miniseries was closer to being done, I read they started shooting it this summer.
Favorite mini series ever.. I used to watch it everyday. I could do almost every scene from the head. It's not completely accurate (read the book) but it's very well done. 9.8 out of 10 if you ask me.
what i think is the best about it, not the special effects, but the fact that you connect on an emotional level with the characters........when Buck was standing there, looking at Guanerea (sp...its to early..), i felt for him........i have never connected on an emotional level to any film, until i saw this one...
Actually, I saw very few mistakes. The only mistake I remember is kind of minute and it really doesn't matter, but it bugs me. heh. If you notice in "Carahee," Winters wears his cap/cover on his belt, and the cap is folded over the belt. Well, that's how the British do it, in the American military, the cap is slid under the belt.
I know, I know, stupid. But I did that once in JROTC and people got on me for wearing my cap like the British.
I should be ashamed of myself.. I never watched the complete BoB :( I should rent it soon..
