I can't wait for the series comin' in January. So which version of the show do you like? The old or the new . They really outdid themselves in the new version, graphically speaking. They never reused a screen. I thought the retracting pods idea added a nice touch. And you know they took alot of effort to add maneuvering thrusters on the fighters.
From what I saw in the mini-series which lead to the creation for a new version for the series I'm pretty excited....not saying the original was bad, it was quite enjoy to watch
i havnt seen it

2003 had a much more realistic depiction of space combat than the previous one... Nah 2003 actually had something worth watching compared to some annoying little kid with his robot doggy running off, I mean what bases is that for a decent storyline?

I was a big fan of the old show and loved it immensely, even if it was a Glen Larson production and filled with his obsession for Wagon Train rip offs.
Being a fan of the old show I was very worried that it would not respect the original or the original storyline. Except for a few details (Such as who created the Cylons) I have no complaints.
In the arena of space combat and special effects there is no comparison. The Cylon fighters are awesome, the Galactica now puts out anti spacecraft fire befitting her size and importance, the use of manuvering thrusters on the Vipers is a small detail but impresses the hell out of me, and the way they worked the old technology and original series into the new series was nothing short of masterful.
I did find some bloopers in the pilot but it was still very very good. I cannot wait for the series start January 21st.
The only thing that I am hoping for is to see some one or two other Colonial Navy ships like a Destroyer or Cruiser sized vessel.
And some of the stars from the original series will be making guest appearances so I dont see how it could get any better. :)
Now I wonder if they will do a modern remake of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. The TV show was pretty decent for the time but looks silly now, but I would still love to see a remake.
Hell Im still hoping for a live action Wing Commader TV series. Just me but I liked the movie but the Wing Commander saturday morning animated series sucked.

I saw a lot of the old ones. I think the remake is a worthy successor. I quite like how it seems a lot more realistic than most sci-fi shows. No saucer-heads or lightsabers to be seen here. I agree with everything Anlushac said.
And I also like the fact that it's not completely combat orientated; I thought it was just going to be another standard explosion-filled attention seeker looking to earn its makers a few quid from nothing more than fancy effects, rather than a good show. Although the effects are fancy... it's a good show. I too find unhealthy levels of satisfaction from the manoeuvring jets of the Vipers...

That be the one :)
I also really impressed with the scene where the XO ordered the Chief to vent a compartment to vacuum of space while some crew members were still in it to prevent the fire from spreading and possibly destroying the ship.
In combat sometimes if a ship was hit by a torpedo and was taking water the ship would have to counterflood compartments on opposite side of the hole to keep ship from capsizing (rolling upside down). There wasnt always time to evacuate the compartments first and men were sacrificed to save the ship and the lives of the rest of the crew. I found that scene very realistic and moving.
Yeah it was boring back then but the concept was sound
Now it's not boring but the concept is in the toilet
