I've noticed the Brit boom in shows that utilize 'repetitive comedies'. That is to say, one which uses the same sketch over and over, but with a slightly different storyline. For example, Little Britain with it's "Yeah but no but" and "Margrit?! ...yes?" and the Catherine Tate show with the "Innit! Izzit? Are you disrespectin' ma family?" I have to admit, I find these funny, and that's what makes me so scared, in a way. I'm becoming amused at such simple things, which I would never have thought would have made me laugh if you'd have suggested them to me a couple of years ago. Is it that these are actually funny, or are the British people just becoming less demanding?

Its true, alot of our comedy is just not as funny as 10 or 20 years ago.

I was just discussing this yesterday, there are no longer any truely funny comedy shows such as Porridge or Allo Allo. Fool's and Horses was pretty crap when they did the Christmas specials as well - nowhere as good as the classics.

It's all been done before and hardly anything comes as a surprise. It would take a genius to come up with something completely original and fresh. Still, I would rather watch some of these "repetitive comedies" over some of the imports we get.

I think that Little Britain is great. It is genious comedy. To be honest it's a matter of taste if you prefer the older comedies then that's fine. I've moved on.

Little Britain was great when it first started out. It was new, and it was in some ways shocking. It got it's laughs by being outrageous, and as it got more and more daring, it became harder to make the audience shocked by it, thus make the show funny. Sadly, it has also been played to death, and is no longer worth watching at all. There has been some brilliant British comedies in the past couple of years however. Black books, Green Wing, Pheonix Nights to name but a few.

If you think things like a woman pissing on a floor for a constant twenty seconds due to incontinence is genius, you may want to re-evaluate your outlook on life. Little Britain is far from genius.

I agree, it's not funny.

I found little Britian funny for a while in the first series, but the fact that they chose to stick with the same old formula which was bound to get profits, rather than experimenting with new ideas and showing originality again.

Yeah, Brit comedy has got far too slapstick and unoriginal. Little Britain was funny at first but got very repetitive. And people everywhere constantly repeating the phrases get very annoying.
