Aliens visiting the wild west, eh? Reminds me of one of the Star Trek: Enterprise episodes, North Star.
That particular episode tells the story about the group of Humans who've been abducted from Earth during the 1860's by the alien race called the Skagarans, who intended to use them as slaves. They took the Humans to their planet and put them to work. After some time, the Humans rebelled, destroyed the Skagaran technology, took over and treated the Skagarans who survived the rebelion in the same way they treated them - like slaves. Humans and their offsprings organized their society in the only way they knew - wild west style. Here's an entire episode, if someone wants to watch:
Perhaps this movie could be some kind of a prequel to that episode and show how the aliens abducted those people from Earth and took them to their planet in the Delphic Expanse. Altough, James Bond (Daniel Craig) will probably save the day with that high-tech bracelet thing he probably got from Q. =p
This movie needs some ninjas. :D
Well... if half the time we can't defeat Aliens with Rockets and Missiles, I'm not seeing quite how a bunch of Cowboys on Horseback are going to do much better. =p I wish them all the luck in the world.
Well, Starfleet can't defeat the Borg with Phasers and Photon / Quantum torpedos either, but bullets and various kinds of blades seem to work like a charm every time, so I don't see why the cowboys with their Colts and Winchester rifles wouldn't be able to stand up to aliens armed with energy weapons.

See what I mean?
Whilst you have a point, these were drones, lightly armoured, and relatively thick compared. We're talking about alien space ships here. ;)
Who knows, maybe the aliens will step out of their ships and challenge the local gunslingers to a gunfight at O.K. Corral, at high noon. That trailer didn't reveal very much, so we can still hope. =p
There's optimism if I'd never seen it before. ;)
Truthfully, I haven't heard much about this movie. I went to go see "The Fighter" and there was a trailer for it before the movie started. That's all I know of it, however, it seems as if it will bomb badly. The start of the trailer, it seemed like an original western movie, and then aliens come and it ruins the entire setting for me. It's definitely not something I would have my heart set on seeing, but then again, every once in a while, something "different" is good.
