It was decent in terms of the gore, but frankly I was a bit disappointed in the movie overall. I was hoping to be presented with a trio of homicidal psychopaths going on a killing rampage with some good, clearly defined purpose. Instead, the maniacs were just evil for the pure sake of it and were killing for gratuitous pleasure.

What I most disliked, though, was the cast and the theme--white trash hicks & rednecks in the California high desert. It was just about the equivalent of a disgruntled hick leaving his trailer park home to go on a shotgun killing rampage after the death/imprisonment of a close friend or relative.

From what I've heard though, Rob Zombie took that production of his VERY seriously, and I greatly respect that comming out of him as an artist, even if his expressive material doesn't entirely cater to my tastes.
