You may not have known his name, but you have probably heard his voice, either for real or parodied. This man often did the serious and deep tone for many trailers. His style of starting some with "In a world..." is often parodied. There are probably a lot more- he's done the trailers for about 5000 films.

He was also known to help others who requested it, and was recently featured in Jay Leno and the Geico commercials. He sometimes has popped in for video games, Resistance 2 and MGS4.

He was admitted to a hospital on August 22nd with a blood clot in his lungs, but then died on September the 1st due to complications of pneumothorax.

In a world without Don LaFontaine, moviegoers everywhere will mourn his death, until the day one man . . did some stuff.

Man, that sucks - I can't remember the last time I sat through an entire series of previews at the theater without hearing his voice at LEAST once.

I just loved his voice. In a platonic kind of way.

I just heard about this over dinner. It really is a shame. however, I have been practicing my deep, gravely voice in the hopes that I could take over his job when he died.

Im perfect for the job!
