Simple thread. I thought it was (for what it was) a very good movie, I especially like the SFX. When compared to the book however it leaves a LOT to be desired. I would estimate that 60% - 70% of the book was left out / changed / ignored in this movie. I will however be buying it on DVD, as it's addictive a hell, as I've always been fascinated with dragons.

I kind of wondered why the sorcerer badguy who seemed to have unlimitied powers was afraid of the king. I also thought the voice over for the dragon was kind of weak.

All in all it was a decent movie though. My brother thought it was a LOTRs ripoff. I kind of have to agree with him. I doubt the movie would've been made if LOTR hadn't been so popular.

I wasn't overly impressed by the movie, it is basically Star Wars IV with dragons instead of X-Wings.

The book is quite good though.

For those who want some real fantasy I recommend The Dark Elf or Icewind Dale trilogy by Salvatore.

I would give it a rating of "total bollocks" total fantasy rip off and too LOTR-esque for my liking

I guess it's something you'd have to read to understand that it's really not that much like Lord of the Rings at all. I would know, I have all three movies extended edition and I've seen them all. Eragon's really nothing like that.
