Killing is my business...

As i browsed the isles of my local video shop looking for something to keep me entertained for a couple of hours, a DVD caught my eye with the big proclamation that "this film should gain the cult status matching that of Dazed and Confused" and a couple of other similarly *hopeful* quotes. Dazed and confused bieng one of my favourite films i though i'd pick it up... big fucking mistake. The storyline basically revolves around 2 guys getting evicted from their apartment and throwing one last party before they leave. Im not excatly sure if it was intended as a comedy or drama or...what... but it sure wasn't in the least bit funny or dramatic. IMO the film only serves to highlight how good dazed and confused really was/is. Where DAC effortlessly captures a party atmosphere, evicted portrays nothing but bordom, crappy, boring, un-funny, shit. The constant blatant attempts to capture 'funny' alcohol and drug induced happenings fail miserably. Its kind of like when someone tells you about something "funny" which happened to them over the weekend when they where drunk and you stare at them blankly untill they get the message that "you really had to be there". Example: In the background where a load of people are taking speed there are 2 guys staring at static on a tv... because all people do that when they are high on drugs its funny lol get it In DAC (Dazed and Confused) during the party there are intersting things and conversations happening everywhere, in Evicted nothing is going on... at all. There are about 3 people at their party, no music, nothing... Just the occasional cliched remark or event which bears no resembelance to any other and is never funny. For example at the beginning of the party some random guy in a suit comes into the party and gives one of the lead characters some pure acid (LSD) in a can of beer, then hands him a small wierd box to "give to his friends". This box is never mentioned again, nor is the guy. And no explanation as to why he was there ever given. It made no fucking sense. Mabey i just dont *get* the film. I have absolutly no fucking idea what the point of it was, i mean the concept was alright and could have made for a decent plot but the way it was written, directed, acted (oh god the acting) and filmed just didn't make any sense. The characters are horrible, none of them had any kind of personality beyond "i drink to much but i write (shit) poetry, how deep and intersting I am", none of the actors had any continuation in the way they acted the characters, its like they where just reading lines how they thought that specific part should be read and not in keeping with any other parts of the film... if that makes any sense. And the end... the end... oh god. Never have i seen anything so pathetic. The two guys end up loosing all their money, posesions... everything and then... thats it. The film ends. Some other guy at the party looses all of his things too; phone, car gets stolen, girlfriend leaves him... and he just says "oh well, its just stuff", like some big moral message about how we should not care about mear possessions. Fucking stupid cliched shit, which does not work in the real world. Incase you have not noticed, i hate this fucking POS film. Do. Not. Watch. It... Ever.
