How did Brook get the pass that allowed instant medical treatment?

First do you mean Shepard Book (not Brook)? Yeah that's one of the many things they even left out of the movie...they constantly touched for mere seconds on questioning his past but never actually revealed anything. I'm thinking he was with the Alliance and maybe was forced to do something horrible or just something that would make him give up his life in the government and pay his dues as a Shepard

Yeah, it was Book, my mistake. It's been a while since I last watched it.

I just loved the characters...all of them were just deep. Jayne, for example. Complete mercenary, doing anything that will bring him the most benefit. Malcolm, war hero and true leader. Inara, the companion. Kaylee, the gifted mechanic.....the list goes on. A real shame they cancelled it.

Indeed, the Book enigma I believe was just ment to be unexplained, just speculated. Tolkein put alot of unanswered engimas into his books just to give a sense of reality to his stories, because in reality, somethings we just never no, and also to drive readers insane trying to find out if he did write it in there and they just skipped over it or not.

I really enjoyed firefly aswell, the acting was a bit shaky at times, mostly with Inara (Morena Baccarin) and River (Summer Glaue) with the occasional bit from Simon (I don't pay much attention to guy's names) or Malcom (Nathan Fillion, I remember because of the credits of Serenity and how I liked how the opening credits faded in and out). Overall it was jst really fun to watch; Jayne getting stupified, River... being River I guess, Simon as the innocent guy who never thinks too much about women or sex (usualy a feminine role), Kaily, the opposite who is openly interested in sex... with Simon (almost never portrayed in positive female characters), Inara... well damn just watching her walk around in skimpy outfits, Book being a space reverand/preacher (Religion is almost non existant in alot of Sci-Fi series, except in the case of primitives), Wash with his ever constant and random euthanisms and quotes, and the other one I always forget the name of..., well I just was never much interested in her character anyways (a bit too firm and narrow in mentality), and ofcourse the reoccuring characters like Saphrin & the Assassain (later reinterperated as the Operative in the film due to issues over non essential character copyrights that fox had kept for some odd reason).

I too also enjoyed the mixture of religion in the series and Mal's obvious hate of it. There in general was something I really liked and enjoyed about the series...for a science fiction show it seemed more realistic than most regular drama shows...there were no aliens (the Reavers dont count they were mentally screwed up humans) and no overly science fictiony elements with the exception of space ships and interplanetary travel - there werent really even that many lasers...bullets were still flying around.

I also liked how Joss saw the future as a combined people with a culture that was meshed together from both Chinese and American/European influences...every time the characters curse in the show and movie it's always in a form of Chinese (or future Chinese)...I was surprised when Mal drops that F=bomb in Serenity though haha.

and the other one I always forget the name of

Yeah - that's Wash's wife Zoe...I too would agree that she was the most cold and uninteresting characters of the series yet I think that's sometimes how she was supposed to be...a cold, get-it-done type, soldier without a war....

the Assassain

If you're referring to who I think you're referring to (the bounty-hunter character from the episode Objects in Space) then I must agree with you yet again. I loved this guy...he was just so oddball that it was genius - he was nuts! If the Operative you also referr to is supposed to be this guy in Serenity I would say that they didnt quite capture his amazingness from the series but rather invented another good character.

Thought Firefly was awesome. Absolutely LOVED Serenity.

If your in a area where high technology exists then I guess everyone could use LASER's but if your in a low tech area on the frontier then I could easily see pistols, revolvers, and shotguns being used. They are low maintenance and ammo is easy to make.

Yep indeed, Zoe was intended and suited to her role and was a nessisary role, just an uninteresting one, with no real way of fixing it without making her like Mal, which would take away the sense of individuality.

As towards the Assassain/Bounty Hunter/Lunatic, yep he was great, he knew how to get to people, he knew how to make people affraid. When Fox cancelled the show they kept the rights to it and it's characters, Joss argued creative copyright for the mainstays, but wasn't allowed much farther than that. The Operative is indeed a very different sort of character than the Bounty Hunter, and had to be, neither had a well defined name that they would be consistantly referred to as, and thus Fox could take action if they made it too similar, but in the end they serve the same purpose, and are both equaly insane, just in totaly different ways.

Alot of my favorite quotes come out of this series: Book: "There is a special place reserved in hell for child molesters and people that talk at the theater." Mal: "If someone tries to shoot you, you try and shoot em right back." River: "And I can kill you with my brain," Kayley: "I aint had nothing betwix my nethers that aint run on batteries in years, captain" Simon: "Ummm.. what?" Mal/Jayne: "You wanna run this ship?" "Yes" "Well... ya can't" Inara: No real quote here, just Inara

I love that quote in the movie where Jayne gets snagged by that Reaver cable and he says: "if they take me - you shoot me!" then Mal aims his gun at him "woah - well dont shoot me yet!"

That or when Mal comes up behind River and says something like: "I just wanna talk, but if you wanna shoot me then just do it.." then River pulls a gun out of nowhere aims it and cocks it "well maybe we could just talk"

If you own the Serenity movie I would recommend watching the extra feature bloopers...if you've ever seen Slither (also with Nathan Fillion) they're basically the same...Nathan Fillion is awesome and should be in more movies

Have you ever seen him in Slither? He's quite possibly the best part of that whole damn movie...Fillion really should be in some more movies. In Firefly he reminded me of a more comedic Harrison Ford as Han Solo in the Star Wars movies.

Best line from Serenity was

"Can we hear the part again where Jayne got his ass kicked by a 90lb girl cuz I dont think thats ever gonna get old"
