i thought the film was a great enactment of the game, they used the same music from Akira Yamaoka, they and the Silent Hill team worked on it together which to my opinion gave its authentic feel.

did anyone else catch the film or play the game?

i hear there may be a sequel also too, im not a huge fan of sequels.. but maybe this could work with the right people

As for the the games, the only one I've ever played all the way through was 2, which I actually just picked up for computer, and am playing through it again. I really do like the series a lot. And, Silent Hill 2 had great graphics for 2003, and the art direction overall was phenominal.

I was disappointed with the movie, a lot. It felt great, and looked fantastic, but it was pretty dull throughout. The acting was hit and miss. The plot was a okay. The whole climax at the end was just ridiculous I thought. It was a mixed barrel of fun, at best.

I've played Silent Hill 1 3 and 4 and completed all of them, I went to go see the very first screening of the movie on the very first day it came out because I freaking worship Silent Hill, I thought the film wa good, it had the jump out of your seat element but not the scare element of the games, they did well with the gore, especially in the church =D, I'm glad they used the original Silent Hill music instead of creating some crappy stuff they hired some cheap musician to do or just ruining it with heavy metal (don't get me wrong i'm a metalhead but heavy metal is not scary) and plus they have not made the mistake of many other game-to-film movies by trying to stick with the storyline and ruining it and hiring some well known actors to play the parts. But I do feel that they screwed up the roles of certain charachters e.g Dahlia Gillespie in the games was a nuthead who was your ENEMY and she looked a lot neater too, in the film she's helped by the main character to destroy the religious fanatics of Silent Hill and get her daughter back. Plus she looks like a hobo but I guess that's a bit more realistic. Although I do like the fact that it explained the sirens when the Darkness comes. Compared to other game-to-movies like Resident Evil and Doom, this is a success.
