Does anyone like it? It is my favorite series. Lord of the Rings had too much detail and Harry Potter is too childish. This is definately the best. Who has read it and what do you think? You can read about it here. A few of you may remember I made this thread about half a year ago but things have changed since then and a hell of alot of new members have joined since. I know *Soviet.Power will have things to say...... Here is the thread I did last time. It has been dead for 2 months now. Anyway.... I liked Lee Scorsbey, Serafina Pankilla and Will the best but all the characters are genius. Phillip Pullman is a psycological mastermind. My favorite world was Lyra's World. My favorite dæmon was Hester, Lee Scorsbey's dæmon. Please tell me what you think. If you havn't read it you have missed out on the read of your life and are a crackpot if you don't want to. Here is my original thread's post:

RevenWho agrees that this is quite simply the greatest series ever written? Screw Lord of the Rings (waaaaaay too much detail) or Pride and Predudice (Past the point when a book is too romantic) - This book is top. Phillip Pullman is a writing mastermind. The psycology behind the writing is genius. The story is genius. I am still depressed that I will never read about Lyra and Will again in any new stories having finished the book 2 months ago. I'll have to stick with Hitchikers' Guide to the Galaxy for now......... The escape at Bolvanger. The spectres at the Tower of Angels. The prophecy of Lyra. The window out of heaven. The building of the Republic of Heaven. My God I wish Pullman would write a book on when Lyra and Will meat up when they die and see their dæmons again......... Anyone who has read this please tell me what you think. Also your thoughts on "Lyra's Oxford" the spin-off?

Trust me - it gets way better than that. Defenately read the other two.

Its a great trilogy. . . A film would be good as well, but I doubt it would be as popular as LOTR, shame, as the books are just as good i'd say.

Well alot of people didn't know about Lord of the Rings until they saw the trailor in the cinemas when seeing the first Harry Potter. I did. I think the films could be just as successful - this book is far more modern and appeals equally to young and old - something that Lord of the Rings couldn't achieve.

The Subtle Knife. The third is called The Amber Spyglass.

Just for the record - The first is called The Golden Compass in the US and Northern Lights in the UK. They changed the name for the US because most of them have never heard of the Arora as it doesn't happen there. Just like the first Harry Potter book was changed for the US.

This isn't just a good series. It is the best. Let me know what you thought of it once you are finished. Da Vinci's Code is good. He is a genius. Just like Phillip Pullman I might add :)
