The Mist Trailer YouTube - The Mist Trailer

I still think this is one of the best stories Mr. King has ever done.

That looks like it could be a good movie. I always liked that story. It was one of his classics. I remember always feeling like it could happen at anytime. Look forward to this movie.

I do hope it'll be better than Rose Red... or many many other Steven King based movies... they tend to rape the story

I like the look of that - haven't read it but I might do.

It's got to be better than 1408. Saw it the other day. I can't believe it has a 7.5 rating on IMDB.

That goes for about all film adaptions of a book. Consolidating characters or just plain removing them, completely changing dialogue, and dumbing down the plot to the point where we must assume that the producers think that we, the viewers, are complete morons. That said, there is also a rumor that "The Dark Tower" book series is being adapted to film. It is not specified whether it will be the silver screen or a television mini-series.

For the dark tower, it would probably only get reasonable justice if it is a TV mini-series. At least then they could do it over two weeks and get the whole thing done. There were actually a couple of his movies that were fairly close to the story that they were based off. The problem is, 98% of the movies are a dumbed down version that they made so that everyone would watch them. When you read the book, it is almost always 100x better. That being said, I do think they did a half decent job with The Dark Half. At least it kept the basis of the story alive. Hollywood could have done to his books what they did to the Robert Ludlum books. Talk about a complete deviancy from the storyline. I am still pissed about that.(Bourne Ultimatum, Bourne Supremacy).

There are many parts of "The Dark Tower" that wouldn't make it on the air if it went to TV though; i.e. repeated racist remarks, drug smuggling, rape scene etc. not to mention it would require many intense (and expensive) special effects scenes. I agree that a TV mini-series would be the most efficient way to get the full story out, but I think combining 2 books at a time and making a trilogy on the big screen would be better.
