I am looking for a video (VHS/DVD) of a FULL performance of "The Phantom of the Opera" by the original London cast (Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman)
I don't know if any video recordings were ever made of one of the London or Broadway performances but I would love to be able to get a hold of one
I know they have a soundtrack from the original cast, but I can't seem to find a video performance.
Any help would be great
Not sure you will. I’ve been to 7 performances and never recall a live taping (other than promotional stints), somehow I don’t think Webber nor Hart would approve. The best you are going to get is Webber's 2004 movie adaptation. Since Webber hand picked the performers and was with the film producing and assisting in directing the cast, I can tell you it is damn good and just as good as being there…well almost.
I have the movie, but prefer the voices of the original cast (Michael Crawford is without a doubt the best Phantom)
Well, I have a cassette of the original recording, but that would be a little difficult to upload to you, unfortunately – sorry.
Heh, been looking for this for years STALKER, no luck.
I didn't make it!
Looks legit since it's not very flashy. lol
How anyone could prefer Brightman over Rossum is beyond me.

I am going to pretend I didn't read this so I don't fly into a rage and kill you.
That's just me. While I enjoy both performances, I much prefer Rossum. Brightman is a great, great singer, do not get me wrong. But Rossum has such a nice range, she can be so tender yet so powerful, whereas to me Brightman seems powerful all the time, even during scenes like "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" when it just feels like a more tender voice is needed.
