That is not easy as many "scary" movies are very predictable and boring. Not sure if it is on Netflix, but take a look at Pontypool. A somewhat different take on the zombi apoc story, not really scary but more interesting than those movies usually are.

Agreed. Most "horror" movies are just straight up torture porn with no real redeeming value. However, there are a couple that at least have a good narrative that...somewhat justifies the grisly images. There are admittedly very few of these, but if you can find them they can make for a really scary experience.
Most good horror movies I've found focus more on the psychological aspects more so than just butchering people. And just to go on a semi-rant: I have always had a bit of a pet peeve with those kinds of movies. The main reason is they desensitize you to graphic violence and make it boring after a while. It pretty much makes it the equivalent of a freak show or haunted house attraction. It makes a mockery of true scary ideas and concepts that may actually make you think about their implications and turns the genre into voyeuristic sadism.
