This is a reality TV series showing in Britain in which a group of film makers have convinced a group of 'suggestable' people (idiots) have been convinced that they are going to be sent to space as the first ever live TV Space Tourists.
They have spent months making sure every corner is covered. Basically, the people who were picked to take part were supposedly flown to Russia, when in actual fact they circled the Kent coast near London, then landed in a disused US military base from the Cold War near Ipswitch where they made it look like Russia in every way - they changed the power sockets, added Russian litter to the ground, had a tank drive past their truck, had Russian-speaking Russian soldiers (British actors), and everything else you'd expect on a Russian base. There was even a SCUD missile on the side of the road, for goodness' sake.
What they plan on doing is knocking one contestant out every few days until we have four winners, with one actor included - three actors are part of the selected group who are there to stop anyone figuring out the truth and keep things calm. These four winners will be told they are being sent into space, but in actual fact they will be put in a simulator where they will experience take-off and all that (except Zero Gravity, which they told the idiots 'didn't exist on the near-Earth parts of space'). Of course, they'll be filmed all the way.
I normally hate reality TV, but this is really funny. These people are going to be shattered after discovering the truth afterwards, but it's going to be hilarious.
Is anyone else watching it, and what does everyone think? It is really a step too far for original reality TV, but hell is it funny.
I've seen this advertised, but I haven't got round to actually watching an episode yet. Sounds hilarious, I'll check it out when it's on next.
I seen it advertised. I'll check it out later.
