Oh boy

Space Jam 2 is Happening - IGN

This weekend is the date of the Viking apocalypse, Ragnarok. I only mention that as an aside as we discuss the fact that Space Jam 2 is happening.

Deadline reported the news, revealing that Warner Bros. is partnering with brother duo Charlie and Willie Ebersol on Space Jam 2, as a starring vehicle for the Miami Heat's LeBron James - and Bugs Bunny, of course. Charlie will produce Space Jam 2, with Willie writing. The movie's in the early stages, so James will have plenty of time to heal from that broken nose he just received.

This is the first major film deal for Charlie Ebersol, who previously has produced unscripted TV and the acclaimed documentary Ithuteng: Never Stop Learning. While James will be at the center of the film, it's expected that, like in the original Michael Jordan Space Jam, other NBA stars will also appear.

Space Jam was a hit in 1996, earning $230M worldwide. Still, 18 years is a very long time to make a sequel. As Deadline notes, it's especially amusing that Warner Bros. also announced a release date today for The LEGO Movie 2, which opened just two weeks ago.

Are you sure Micheal Bay isn't behind this? He is hellbent on pissing all over my other childhood favorites.

I have a feeling that much like Lebron's teammate Dwayne Wade, this movie will flop hard.

It seems like now that rumour is being shot down by LeBron's camp (they've updated that IGN story), while WB has said nothing. So who knows? Maybe it's happening or maybe it's not. I don't even care if LeBron James is in it, I only care if Bill Murray returns!!!

Honestly, I could see this happen. LeBron wants to be big like MJ, and while there was a lot of deserved hate for "The Decision", he's arguably a lot more popular now than he was before. I don't hate LeBron James, but I wouldn't count myself as a fan.

:lulz:

You think LeBron would travel more to promote this film than he does during a single game?

Will he wear a headband the entire movie just to hide his receding hairline?

LeBron is a flopper like a bunch of other guys in the NBA, it's very Vlade Divac-like. It's hilarious how he denies it when everyone can clearly see it in the replays. Wade is much worse for flopping because he knows his skills are in decline, so he makes up for it by flopping (and taking it out on the rest of the league by playing dirty at times).

You win a few championships and everyone forgets why they didn't like you.

Also, as Octovon said, conflicting reports are coming out, so we may still have a chance to save our childhoods.

"The Decision" was the single douchiest thing someone in his position could have done. LeBron simply could have had a simple press conference saying he was going to Miami, instead he had an hour-long ESPN special that made a spectacle of it all. Winning a couple championships has rehabilitated his image a lot, but a significant number of people (not just people in Ohio) still don't like LeBron. They respect his abilities and basketball skill, but that doesn't mean they have to like him, and 'The Decision' was still a giant dick move.

It's safe to say that after 'The Decision' everyone outside Miami hated LeBron, a few years and rings later, it's more like a 1/4 of those people still don't like LeBron, but everyone sees him a lot differently because of what he did.

Don't worry, I'm making it a personal point to ruin your life. I will make it happen with my non-existent hollywood connections.
