Just watched the first episode of this season last night. I enjoyed it. But not going to lie, I miss Andy a lot. Spartacus just seemed really different to me character wise. Liam does do a good job though. I can tell this season will be very exciting.

First off, I love this show, and that's not just because of the nudity ~ before anyone suggests such. Ahem!

LustyxChan;5605809Just watched the first episode of this season last night. I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed it too, though I'll be one of the first to admit; I thought it was missing something.

Liam does an okay job for the moment that's about it. I wont rate him up or down until I've seen more of what he is capable of. That's the problem when they change characters (granted, in this case it couldn't be helped because of what happened to Andy) but still. I hear they've changed Navia's actress too? :uhm:

Exciting yeah, but... I couldn't help but wonder. In Episode #1

Spoiler: Show
Spartacus seems to be starting some form of relationship with Mira, yet he is quite happy to go and risk his life (and his cause) for vengeance when up against that Roman dude (forget his name) for the death of his wife. It's like his status with both the other Gladiators and Mira is just something to hide under. Sure, his wife was killed in a tragic way, but his current... attitude comes across as somewhat selfish.

Yes, I also heard they change who is playing Naevia. Makes me really sad, I thought she was perfect for the role! Also makes me wonder how long are they going to make it until they find here :/

When I get excited for this season, I'm not really excited about Spartacus role in it anymore. I'm pretty stoked to see Gannicus! and seeing Lucretia going off the deep end perhaps trying to get revenge on Crixus and Ilithyia!

Spoiler: Show
I'm not going to lie, I haven't ever liked Mira. And I was kind of mad to see how fast her and Spartacus seemed to be forming a relationship. In the first season he really showed no interest in her at all. She knew he was out for revenge for his wife, yet still she threw herself on him, and got a pissy attitude when he talked about his wife. That just made me mad. I know they are going to make her a big part of the show and I rather not pay much attention to it.

Not all of which I expect will be showing her with Crixus, but rather show her in her current state, and to allow us viewers to see what she has been subjected too.
Spoiler: Show

Honestly, and it may seem cliché, but I think she'll be killed off in the season finale; think about it, Crixus' only interest at the moment is finding her. When he's found her, he hasn't really got as much of a reason to fight the Romans. Sure he was a Gladiator too, but he didn't seem to mind it so much, compared to Spartacus at least.

Naevia will be killed off, igniting Crixus' rage, which will in turn aid Spartacus in his fight against the Romans. I'm assuming it'll be a Roman that takes the life of Naevia.

LustyxChan;5606804I'm pretty stoked to see Gannicus!

As am I. I'm wanting to see just how he comes into all of this, and whether his affair with Oenomaus' wife is revealed.

:lulz: I'm in full agreement here.

Edit: I'm curious too as to where they're going to go with this show. I know we're only (effectively) in season three, but it'll be interesting to see how they work the final episode of the final season. Will they repeat history and have Spartacus defeated, or will they change history and have him win? There are already some partial contradictions between the show and proclaimed history. Will be interesting to see where they go with the rest.

I have to agree on that one.

Spoiler: Show
They may know the general area she 'might' be in. But if I remember right, I think they said it was very open. So they will be running into a lot of problems going from villa to villa.

I don't think that his affair with Oenomaus's wife won't be revealed this season or if ever. Gannicus will have to tell him directly. I don't think anyone else knew! Also, Crixus might run into him, but Oenomaus is more likely!

Will they repeat history and have Spartacus defeated, or will they change history and have him win? There are already some partial contradictions between the show and proclaimed history. Will be interesting to see where they go with the rest.

If I remember right in History they never found the body of Spartacus, so that could maybe play a role?

But in history they did say Crixus and Oenomaus did fall.

So yeah, I wonder if they will do something with that. I watched a interview with the writer and he said a lot has to do with the History of course but a lot they want to make their own, but still following history.
Easy way to fill up a couple of episodes though, right? =p
To this, I have no answer. I would expect the death to occur upon escape or something.
I don't think that his affair with Oenomaus's wife won't be revealed this season or if ever. Gannicus will have to tell him directly.

Yeah, that's what I mean, whether Gannicus (after no doubt seeing Oenomaus again) will have the guilt still.

Yeah, I had heard about both of these supposed facts, though if Spartacus truly escaped death at the hands of the Romans, then his war was effectively lost, along with his cause. It'll be interesting to see how they implement said loss, this is providing they follow history and have Spartacus lose.

Also, something else that came to light today (following a conversation with a colleague at work):

Spoiler: Show
Ilithia is pregnant. Ilithia also had that passionate encounter with Spartacus. What's the bet here that she's actually carrying Spartacus' child?

Was going to say I love the show shame whats his face died...feel a little out of my depth at the moment.

To be honest I preffered the second season to this one so far. I liked the whole back story, seeing how everyone came to be.

Aye, the thing we need remember though; Gods of the Arena & Blood and Sand focused on the Arena, and the Gladiator competition. Vengeance is about a rebellion, and is a completely different setup. It's not going to feel the same.

Yeah thats true, its strange not seeing the whole arena scene going on. Feels almost like a new show.

:lulz: You couldn't be further from the truth. I was born in the south-west, and have always lives in the sound-west (or, as some would say, simply west-midlands).

I don't know why, but the word 'aye' has simply become a part of my language. Might have had something to do with listening to Montgomery Scott when I was younger, or, it could be one of many other reasons. Suffice to say, I'm not a northerner. ;)
