Well, first episode has aired.and I have to say I am reserving judgement thus far.

I really enjoyed the two new companions, but the Doctor herself has yet to make her own mark I feel, it's a typical regeneration episode and she hasn't found her own style or rhythm yet. The episode itself I felt built a little too slowly but paid off pretty well in the end, but you could easily have chopped a solid 10 minutes off the running time.

So overall not the worst start but I'll be waiting to see more.

Thoughts?

I liked it. A lot.

She also seems to pick a few traits from Tennant's Doctor. It was a positive first impression for me.

Any thoughts on the new series so far?

I kinda like it, although there's seemingly been a focus on political / ethical issues like racism and less of Sci-Fi, which is ok I guess cause it's a void Star Trek is failing to fill these days, but it's one that isn't all that 'Who-y' when it's laid on that thick.

She's slowly finding her feet though, probably not going to be my favourite doctor but not bad.

Doctor Who has always been about absolute silliness, and not making any sense whatsoever. That is what made Doctor Who so much fun. This series being all about feminism and racism, there is no reason for it. I know BBC is becoming political, but keep it out of Doctor Who.

That said, this new series has been entertaining, so I will continue to watch it. The silliness is gone, but there are still elements of the Doctor Who we all knew and loved.

The last episode I watched was pretty good. I also like the better balance between space set and Earth set this season, despite the fact all aliens look human and have UK accents...

All aliens being humans with wrinkled noses or pointy ears has traditionally been the Star Trek thing.

Aye, but they don't even bother with that most of the time in Who lol.

Silliness gone? That wasn't my read on it, really.

In fact, so far I'm finding her to be the funnest doctor since the reboot. I'm loving Jodi so far!

I am quite simply pretending the spider episode never existed.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.
