they pulled it off great though.
As such, in a STvSW debate Stargate Wins, since neither ST nor SW pulled off prequels that well (Ent got that timewar crap, and the PT got actors who couldnt be bothered to act in the PT (theres a few good 'i did act' scenes for almost every character in AotC/RotJ (and the ones who are returning from TPM, TPM too) but a fair few didnt really act other times in those films. One who didnt at all couldnt be blamed since he wasnt doing the lines or facial stuff - the face was CG. I am talking ofcourse, about JJB. *holds back the need to kill JJB.*

At least Star Trek and Star Wars stayed reasonably far away from trying to be funny. The humour in Stargate was just painful, and not in a good way.
yeah, i didn't care for the constant punchlines. A wisecrack in the face of death is cool, but not every other line.

Oh man! That's the part I loved!
"you really must do something about the breath." O'neil
Compared to Trek and WArs which tried to be serious far too hard... c'mon, and besides, Gates' so good, its not in a vs war with another show! heh.
*reads the above* ... okay i sound like a fan boi. .... bleh. I'm male (20 soon) and a fan, so i guess that makes sense.
Anyway. I can think of so many things that they could have done with Enterprise (Not naming it that in the first place is one thing, i like the name Daedalus. Prometheus. Odyssey. something like that, though not necessarily those.) They could have given us evolutions of the Phoenix design, but for crews of 80, not 8. I understand the viewpoint behind doing an akiraprise, but in a 'retro'-spect way is a bad thing, not a good thing. I think these are the things they did good and would have taken a bit further: navy vessel style interiors. (The doors, bulkheads...) TFT monitors that you know are supposed to be such.
Then Again, I'd have altered the bridge thing a bit. Take the Navy's method of a command centre for actual use, and a 'bridge' thats more for show like when coming into port. Eventually, toward the end of the show, i'd have had them use the bridge most often since the command centre got trashed in one fight or something... say when they were in the expanse or something.
Anyway. STvsSW. Can we not to fleet bashing please? How about a STORY that leaves both camps pleased?!
Alex I'm having some difficulty understanding you.
Meh. That happens. Just like the poo. *chagrined*
I was basically agreeing with you. heh. Meh. I need to go on some Communicationaz coursooz.
Anyway. Trek and Wars both tried to be serious. So I felt their humor was misplaced. For Gate, it's integral to the show.
That easier to understand?
(I need to overlook my posts sometimes. Not much of a poster u'see and all sorts of things mean i don't explain myself well - i didn't chat much when i was younger during the all-important young years. It makes sense to me but i know what i'm thinking, kinda thing.)
ST and SW suck, but they also blow. *smirks at the double entendre.*
Yep that's better...
